Another DC 3... It's a C-47 😁

Anyone?

DA B760M PRO4 | i5-13400F | RTX 3060 12 GB | G.Skills Ripjaws 32GB | MSI MAG A550BN | Ace Power 1 TB NVMe  | Cooler Master Hyper 212

Just curious what is the difference between AH DC-3 and C-47? A paint job?

Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). FAA CP/IR ASEL/AMEL, FI ASEL

My System: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D , MSI X870 GAMING PLUS, 64G RAM, ASUS RTX5090, 4T SSD

Different exterior details (radio navigation antennas, exhaust pipes, etc etc), and the cockpit and troop/cargo compartments are different. A couple users on another forum reported that DC-3 repaints for the 40th anniversary model seem to work on this one though, but I'm not buying this to confirm.

Also hearing that the sounds on this model are pretty poor. Possible to alias the Duckworth mod sounds I'd assume. No word yet on inaccuracies though I noted quite a few UK users are offended that no RAF repaints are present, just US ones.

More interested in hearing about the Waco glider.

I'm curious why the video shows the C-47s towing with their gear down. I wondered if it was something to do with lowering the speed but I haven't seen any images showing gear down tows. Would be nice if AH could add the option of towing a Horsa (or even two Wacos, as they were capable of doing).

I wouldn't say 'offended' but surprised, yes, seeing as the RAF operated almost a fifth of the (total, including post-war) 10000 plus models built. And BOAC operated a further 59 examples.

MSFS are in danger of appearing like some of the all action American WW2 movies in that they won WW2 all by themselves. Come on Microsoft/Asobo give us Brits some credit and give us some British liveries for the Dakota's. After all we did let you use our island as an effective huge aircraft carrier both during and after WW2!

You can draw a parallel between that and all money from the sale for the first month going to the USO with seemingly no money for organisations related to the forces from the OTHER 12 nations that took part in the D-Day landings

I think it’s something to do with the in game glider mechanics…and the a.i.’s inability to raise their gear when they’ve got a tow.

It’s a bit of a peculiar situation when they make a big issue out of not allowing weapons on marketplace aircraft. Obviously this aircraft isn’t armed, but it’s cargo of paratroopers will be, and it was being used in a campaign which was he biggest use of weapons in human history.

Not complaining or taking a side between pacifism or celebrating/commemorating warfare , my only point is I like to fly my military aircraft “tooled up “ and find the marketplace stance on weapons an inconvenience.

I'm guessing it's because of the ESRB rating. Even if the weapons were static it would probably raise it from E to Teen.

it's just a theory BTW. But The F-18 in the FSX Expansion was also missing visible weapons.
