This reminds me of an interesting article I read years ago about the real value of an RG on single engine personal aircraft. Other then a sexy selling point if the performance benefit on a reciprocating single gives enough cost benefit considering the added weight of the retracting mechanism, maintenance and risk of a black swan event such as the above unfortunates experienced. I remember working local control in the tower and preventing a few Bonanza and Moonies from a similar fate back in the seventies.

This is why I use the Landing Gear SET command, instead of Landing Gear Toggle command in MSFS. When the toggle on the controller is pointing down, then the gear is down.

That's the whole point; the Gear Up warning is buzzing and the Occupants are just blabbing along without a care in the World until Touchdown.
