June 24, 20241 yr How did this go Andy? I have been preoccupied by other matters but now am trying to settle on an word not allowed proof way of reinstalling - so far the most useful guide is the vid in the Tips and Tricks forum " How to quickly re-install MSFS....." My main concern is that this uncommanded unistall has left MSFS files have scattered all over my system in about 5 different folders and probably in the registry and maybe elswhere. Don't particularly mind having to reinstall as the previous install was a hybrid of the pre Xbox and post Xbox way of doing things so a bit of a mess. But the abnormal way MSFS2020 gotd eleted while leaving all of its files on my system has me concerned. Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." There are forum posts saying , "Try this method to reinstall MSFS2020, it worked for me". I have tried the method recommended by MSFS. My unqualified opinion is that the present issue is concerned with the Download/Installation Process. The Standard version is OK, but the Premium and Premium Deluxe versions are not installed, in spite of being listed in my Content Manager as Installed and Up To Date. The annoying thing is that MSFS caused the problem with SU15, rectified it, and then made it worse with Update 1.37.19.0...with no apparent solution. Andy andy a

Andy Hi again Bruce, I've just had a further reply from MSFS Zendesk Support. They reckon, as I'm only seeing a fraction of the airports, among other issues it's most likely the core sim is corrupted. The only solution is a clean installation, ensuring the manual deletion of all remaining sim files before reinstallation. I'll let you know if there is any progress. Andy andy a

Andy Thanks does this mean redownloading all the stuff in your Official folder plus a blank Community folder - I had intended to retain them it as per the video in the Tips and Tricks forum? But I also plan to do a registry cleanout using CCleaner although that app has mixed reviews. Bruce After getting the reply from Zendesk last night, I decided to start from scratch and redownload all the stuff. Some folks say to copy Community folder to another drive, others say it's not necessary. Reinstalling is a pain! I've had pc running since 10pm last night. Now, 10 hours later, it has reached 76% and is Decompressing fs-base -soundbanks fs patch. Progress has only been 4% in the last 2 hours, and I have the feeling it's stuck. Andy andy a

Andy 19 hours now since I began re-installation! The 160Gb installation completed after15 hours, and then a screen appeared with 40 Gb Update, followed by another much smaller Update, which is now stuck on decompressing 40th anniversary points of interest, Still the only thing in my library is the Standard showing as Installed. I don't really want to go back to X-plane, as I've spent quite a lot on msfs add-ons. andy a

I seldom give it more than 10 minutes to get a move on if it seems stuck, before fiddling around : disconnecting from internet and reconnecting or just turning off the computer and turning it on again. Often - not always, but often - this is enough to kick start it. 14900ks, RTX4090, 64Gb@6000-30-36-36-T2, Samsung 990Pro 2Tb , Dell G3223Q 32" 4k Gsync + 27" secondary monitor. Even tried swearing at pc, but that didn't help either. I was involved for most of my 40years plus in the electrical trade, with fault finding, but it was a challenge which I enjoyed. However, msfs 2020 is a whole new ball game!. If you tube tutorials and Google didn't exist ,my sim hobby would've started and ended 24 years ago. This SU15 has driven me nuts!! However, what I intend to do, is request a refund for the MSFS Bundle, of Standard, Premium and Premium Deluxe. If they agree to that, I will then buy the Standard version only, At least the problems keep my 83 years old brain ticking over.🥴 andy a
June 25, 20241 yr Are you absolutely certain that the Microsoft account you’re using to log into MSFS is the same one you used to buy Premium Deluxe? Do you always use the same email address or do you have multiple email addresses? 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

My Order History lists the 40th Anniversary Premium DeLuxe Bundle as Completed. There is another forum member who has also lost the DeLuxe edition, also after the last Update. andy a

June 25, 20241 yr Well if I have to redownload the Official folder stuff it will take forever as it is 372 GB! Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
June 26, 20241 yr As it turned out I didn't need to redownload my Official folder. However, after doing the initial 40th Anniversary install into my XboxGames folder only the Standard edition was listed as installed - the 40th anniversary edition was still listed as owned but not installed and what's more no option to install it. So I started the standard edition and pointed the install to the folder that had my previous Community and Official folders. That went smoothly installing about 2 gig of files and the sim loaded normally but surprisingly once in the sim I still seemed to have my premium content - all listed in the content manager as installed and able to be loaded into the sim and despite what was indicated in the Xbox app. So go figure! Clearly something isn't right but I perhaps because I retained my previous Official folder I still have the Premium content. Not really prepared to chase this down any more rabbit holes with MSFS2024 coming in November. It is only 6 weeks until I leave the country for nearly 3 months and by the time I get back MSFS2024 will nearly be upon us. Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened."
