Cant speak for other developers and their behavior, the only one I saw here was Goran, and his response was perfectly fine.

We can try to discuss this great success in a mature way, or you can try to keep belittiling my intellegince with those claims.

I fail to see why the flight factor's T7 or thranda's sales are releveant, why the comments from thranda from xp org as well, let alone you and others are clearly mocking them, not even attempting to make it hidden.

I also fail to see why reddit, a site the only time I visit was as a result in google search, is relevant as well, or has anything to support the attitude or behavior here.

I don't recall mentioning the Flight Factor 777 in this thread. Can you point me to where I brought up the Flight Factor 777?

Also, the Thranda information is new news to me and it was brought up in this thread. I directly quoted the Thranda developer. How is that mocking anybody? Go back and read what I posted again. I didn't mock anybody, it was more or less direct quotes from the Thandra developer, that somebody else had brought up earlier in this thread.

That's the flight sim subreddit. It's a forum that discusses flight simulators. They are discussing how much money PMDG made from their sales of the 777. Why is it appropriate to discuss it there but it' s not appropriate to discuss it here?

Like I've said, I'm talking about the origin of all this saltiness. It didn't start here.

If you keep it up, then you are part of the problem.

So I guess you took the second choice, fine by me.

I've said that before here, it's a game we can all play. It's a problem only if you take it seriously, which I don't.

Goran was civil in this thread indeed, but he was salty also on several occasions.

I mean, you can call it salty.  Context is removed when text is used in a discussion.  If I came across as salty, it wasn't intended.  I'm just blunt and to the point.

Example.  I was in a Windows vs Mac discussion in the XP forums, and my point was, just because Mac isn't as popular as Windows, doesn't make it a worse OS.  Popularity is not an indicator of quality.  (Not intended to be a comparison between MSFS and XP.  Both have strengths and weaknesses).  The discussion was on the verge of becoming an argument.

Personally, I think it's kinda shallow for a dev to make sales figures public.  It's like a "look at me, look at me.  Look how much I've made!" thing.  I even have a problem telling my friends how much I've made from the stuff I made.  I haven't seen any other developers make such information public.

Fair enough. I like when developers/publishers share their numbers (community is always asking for transparency), but I respect your opinion.

I can understand why, and it satisfies that curiosity itch.  The problem then lies with "Well, why did developer X sell less than developer Y??  Maybe Developer X's products aren't as good as developer Y's."

The public always scrutinize this stuff.  And it's easy to say, "I'll just go for the one with the most sales", than to say "I'll go with the one that has the better reviews."

I've seen it happen.

I'd better shut up now.  I may have said too much already about this side of the flight sim fence.

I really can't emphasize more how ridiculous this community around here in avsim looks in an objective non-biased eye, heck, even known MSFS developers are mocking this community these days, no wonder so few 3rd parties are even around here anymore, from any simulator.

Please point me to a place where XPlane and MSFS users are living in perfect harmony.

Never said a perfect harmony, but this forum is by far the worst in that aspect, every discord server i'm in is much more civil & mature in that regard.

I mean, I even saw similar discussions in LRs own discord and it was just fine, mature, straight to the point.

The level of responses, bashing and attitude in here is THIS bad. This place has a really BAD reputation among developers, not just the X-Plane ones.

It applies to the XP sub-section as well, btw.

Judging by these comments, I think the sole intention of this thread is simply put the exact attitude shown in those quoted comments above, under the "We are only discussing flight simulation sales" excuse that undermines one's intelligence, otherwise I seriously fail to see the motives behind this discussion and those kind of comments coming from even the OP himself who clearly is leading towards this sub-level of discussions.

In all honesty, these kind of threads and attitude around here in general seriously makes me reconsider why I ever visit this forum.

Just my 2 cents, mainly for moderators around here, no wonder I saw so many developers ridiculing the level of avsim discussions, in recent years, from both platforms alike.

[Deleted as I don't know how to use mult-quote yet lol]

We are all humans, we sometimes fail, but I asure you I try not scrutinize anyone, specially developers who make a living out of it. I sincerely hope all developers make enough money to keep their projects running, no matter the platform. The OP wasn't really about that, but the discussion derailed after that. My suggestion is to just ignore the people trolling.

Hope you the best, you are probably one of the pillars holding the platform standing.

No, it's not. I asure you. It's just easier to follow in here. Reddit is by far more toxic. And it's not about the subject, it's just people being people.

Umm...I wasn't throwing shade at the OP or PMDG. I'm a big fan of PMDG.

Was responding to the comments which suggested that PMDG was printing money. In fact, my comment was more of a compliment to PMDG.  I suspect their margins are probably pretty typical and it takes effort to be profitable as a small business owner.  It takes years to make a plane as good as the 777, which likely means a lot of expenses.  So nice to see that their hard work = sales.

Ya might want to eat a snickers bar. 🙂

I mean... I never had a response at you/quoted you. So not sure what is it exactly that you want, you might need that snickers bar more than me 😉

LOL my bad! Was trying to respond to someone else and got multi-quote wrong and misread.

Don't need a snickers bar. But I do need a coffee.

Carry on don't mind me. 🙂
