July 13, 20241 yr Absolute nonsense both of you. It was live weather. There are plenty of instances of MSFS clouds looking super bad. Sometimes they can look good but only if you get lucky with lighting and the time of day. A lot of the time they are bad. Edited July 13, 20241 yr by abennett
July 13, 20241 yr I will repeat what I’ve said before, never saw anything like in your prints. The clouds here look really good. The problems with the live weather and the weather engine aren’t related to the visuals (only thing that I thing is a visual glitch and they should improve is when rotating the camera the clouds edges might look grainy). All the issues are related to the weather depiction itself (not consistent with the data, or not being able to render more types of clouds). The only one saying “nonsense” is you. Calling it “horrible” is just absurd. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

All the issues are related to the weather depiction itself (not consistent with the data, or not being able to render more types of clouds). The only one saying “nonsense” is you. Calling it “horrible” is just absurd. I am afraid I completely disagree. I fly exclusively with live weather and the clouds are often not very good at all. They are often the wrong colour, wrong texture (volcanic ash/cauliflower whatever you want to call it) low resolution, unrealistic shape, to name but a few issues. The clouds can look good in MSFS but this is generally when there are favourable lighting conditions such as the position of the sun, and the time of day. And if you genuinely believe that the clouds in the shot I posted are not horrible, then with all respect, I would have to conclude you are either trolling, or need your eyes testing. There are countless topics with hundreds and hundreds of posts both here and on the official MSFS forums discussing the fact that the clouds need a lot of improvement in MSFS, so I am far from alone in my view that the clouds need some work. July 13, 20241 yr Seb made it perfectly clear that the current issue with clouds gloomy look has to do with light refraction that in the past had a high fps cost and has since been improved for MSFS 2024. sp
July 14, 20241 yr I never saw clouds like yours. I’ve seen clouds looking too dark indeed, but not as bad as yours. And that happened really early in the development. Nowadays the clouds look good or at least ok. The weather system needs improvements though. Not the clouds themselves, but the engine (the way it renders the weather data and cloud diversity mainly). With the new atmospheric system (lighting) and better weather accuracy, I will be more than happy. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel

July 15, 20241 yr For me the biggest glaring deficit visually in MSFS has always been clouds, ultra low resolution, no crisp edges when there *should* be, often times just drab and also a certain sameness as it were, unless it's dawn/dusk. The high end planes and airports look fabulous, often the scenery does as well, but cloud depiction really is poor IMO, so much so that it appears as a mismatch to the rest of the sim. I'm so hoping we are pleasantly surprised w/ 2024 release... It most certainly qualifies as horrible. That being said I never have seen anything like this horror. If you're seeing this seems like something is gravely amiss w/ your graphics settings. July 15, 20241 yr I have a different problem with City Update IX -- whenever I try to start a flight in the DC area with this update installed, I get a CTD. If I uninstall this update, no CTDs. The problem persists even with no addons loaded (empty Community folder). So, if City Update is a preview of MSFS2024, this is not encouraging. I can get this update to work with a CTD if I lower the graphics settings, but I see not much difference in the Washington scenery. The story continues ... Edited July 15, 20241 yr by cobalt

Have these just now also bad. I see this bad clouds on many streams as well, so It isn't my settings, and like I say sometimes they can look good, just sometimes they render really badly so it is an MSFS thing not a me thing. July 15, 20241 yr Something is wrong with your sim. I had something similar to your second print, but it’s been a while since then. They are consistently white white now. The new atmospheric system fixes just that. They will have more colors depending on the sun position and height of the cloud layers. 9800X3D@H150i // Msi RTX 5090 Trio OC // 64GB DDR5 6000mhz CL30 // 2TB + 1TB Nvme Dell 27" 2127DGF - 1440p - Gsync - 165hz Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus // TCA Quadrant Airbus // TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals // Logitech Flight Multi Panel
July 15, 20241 yr Looking forward to all the new enhancements and promises. What's the latest WU for MS 2020? I might re-install. Thanks. MSFS

I really don't think it's the case that there is something wrong with my sim. I watch a lot of flight sim streams and videos and I see these clouds on all of them from time to time. I guess whether you get these depends on how much you fly, I am genuinely pleased for you that you don't get them, you are one of the lucky ones.
