    Sorry, couldn't resist:  😝

  • This wouldn't be a pre agreed routine flight though. It's not a case of "hop on this one guys." It would be the US saying, "please Mr Putin, our spaceship is a failure, can you rescue our crew, p

  • The PR impact would be far worse if they tried to come home on the Starliner and there was a major malfunction which killed the crew. For once Boeing is listening to their engineers who caution that t

Yep.

NASA decision is that they will come home in Feb 2025 with crew 9. Starliner will come home uncrewed.

The only thing that grates at me right now is "Stranded Boeing Starliner Astronauts to be Rescued..." like they're stuck on some isolated deep space rock somewhere. It isn't like they're in dire straits, food and O² supplies dwindling, or anything like that. Typical Journalistic hype.

Yes exactly. It's driving me nuts. There's one site that keeps posting every negative symptom of long term weightlessness they can find, and always relating to the female of the two astronauts.

Sorry, couldn't resist:

So this is my understanding of the whole deal... please Update if incorrect:

Starliner Returns 9/6/2024 (uncrewed).

Soyuz MS-26 Launches to ISS 9/11/2024 with three aboard (Ovchinin, Wagner, Pettit).

SpaceX Crew-9 Launches to ISS 9/24/2024* with two aboard (Hague, Gorbunov)

provided the FAA clears Falcon-9 to resume Flights.

Soyuz MS-25 Returns 9/24/2024 with three aboard (Caldwell-Dyson, Kononenko, Chub).

SpaceX Crew-9 Returns February/March 2025 with four aboard (Hague, Gorbunov, Wilmore, Williams).

I think that sounds right.

Meanwhile, strange noises have been heard over Starliners speakers. 😄

Now a strange noise from Starliner's speaker.  It did sound very rhythmic, not like something randomly banging around.

NASA now says the noise is an audio system configuration and it is nothing more than feedback.  That actually sounds like a reasonable explanation.
