Currently we have a fine rain in my neck of the woods. Clearing up after 11:00. Usually get 11 days of rain in August and 13 in September. Sea temp is usually 17 at this time of year but we've been seeing days at 20C.

As soon as I have made however many trips it takes to get everything indoors, the rain stops and the sun once more makes it's appearance and bakes everything dry once more... 😕 Fr. As soon as I stepped out of the door this morning I got rained on. It was worth it though, as I was on my way to get my hair cut by a Taiwanese lady that looks absolutely gorgeous. Hmm... I wonder if she fancies 66 year old men with a bald patch? 🤔 Then it's off to the dentist to slap down some more dosh for a teeth cleaning. Just like a highly tuned Ferrari I need maintanance.

Just like when we get a Spanish Plume. A band of air brought to Britain from Spain and occasionally North Africa. That can result in Saharan sand being deposited on our cars. Temps can reach 35°C but not this late in the year. Ray (Cheshire, England). So if you're ever in a drought, go to the store. It'll be sure to rain promptly. Even better if you don't have an umbrella with you....surefire way to summon rain. 1 hour ago, Ray Proudfoot said: weather Drought here. Interestingly, last summer (2023) we also had 2 months without rain. I've never seen anything that dry since ... well 1988. I lost a rhododendron in my yard. This summer (2024) we had about 1 month of no rain. But this summer it was more of a localized drought...St. Louis for example had a lot more precip than we did. So too did Memphis TN. I'm in between those two cities. Basically, as I understand it, the Bermuda High has been rather strong this year. When the Bermuda High is strong, we in the SE USA tend to have a dry summer / late summer. Our first rain in 2 months came as a result of Hurricane Francine. Thanks Francine you sweetie. 😎 Despite claims that summer 2024 was the warmest in many parts of the world it was the coolest summer here in NW England since 2012. We had a year’s rain in the second half of 2023 making it the wettest since I started keeping records in 2009. Not every major weather event can be put down to the usual claim. I remember a day’s rainfall of 12” in Devon, England back in the 50s so these things have always happened. We’re too far away from Bermuda for systems to affect us. It’s the Azores High that’s been missing for a while but a Scandinavian high is giving us decent weather now. Ray (Cheshire, England).
