REX Atmos coming

FWIW : using REX Atmos in bots my pc’s and MSFS is working like s charm.

Beside REX Atmos I also use Lossless Scaling and AutoFPS. Everything working together very nicely.

How these apps interact with MSFS does not interess me. If they work and add to the realism, performance or immersion then it is good enough.

Come on Markus. We are here to fly and enjoy 🥳

Yes we are. And I enjoy indeed. 🙂

Is this addon using standard SDK or is it altering the memory? I think it’s the latter, isn’t it? There is almost no chatter in the official forums probably because this addon is blacklisted and the mods shut every discussion down.

As long as this works, all is great. But I think people should know that there’s a high risk that sooner or later MS/Asobo finds a way to block this addon or renders it unusable because it goes agains it lisence.

Don’t you think that you are over reacting ?

You really think that Asobo is spending time finding ways to block addons ?

The sell moet MSFS copies because addons exist.

I really don’t care hoe an addon works …

On the forums? Maybe

Asobo/MSAzure? Nah. They've let several modders figure out their sim for the last 4 years and even hired a bunch. Asobo reminds me of Bethesda. They can make cool stuff to start with but its usually the modding community that fixes it.

In the case of the modders in the flight sim community charge money.

Last week it happened three times that a few hours into a flight, the Ethernet adapter in my computer stopped working. This after I started using Atmos.
The sim still worked but of course I was switched to offline mode.
The only way I could the adapter to function again was a restart of the computer.
So I made some flights without using Atmos. Yesterday a four hour flight, today more than seven hours. No problems.
Of course this does not prove that Atmos was the culprit but for now I'll do without it. A pity, I liked what it could do.

REX Atmos has nothing to do with your Ethernet adapter…

Your ethernet uses a driver.

I know. I know how computers work. Still this is what happened.

If you mess with memory and you make a mistake, anything can happen.

No issues Here with 2 MSFS pc’s using REX Atmos, AutoFPS and Lossless Scaling.

And my server is running Prosim cockpit suite modules + multiple cockpit addons + PSXT / Real Traffic + Wideview.

You could be running other apps that are causing memory issues when REX Atmos is beïng added too.

You could try just MSFS with a default ac without any addons active , just REX Atmos and see what it does …,

Of course. But I do not have that many addons. FSRealistic, FSLTL, atc chatter and many airports. Neither of which I want to exchange for Atmos.

It could just be a coincidence that I had problems with my ethernet when using Atmos and not anymore (so far - knock on wood) since I stopped using it.

It most likely is a coïncidence, but if Rex Atmos uses memory injection this is precisely the risk and I can understand Asobo not condoning such practices.
Updates can cause these memory locations to change. Addons that stick to the SDK might be broken by an update, but addons that use memory injection can cause other addons, or the simulator itself, to fail.

In theory, such an addon could also cause havoc outside MSFS if they start to POKE in addresses a critical system proces is using, or a driver...

Having said this, there are several reasons a NIC could quit working and might have nothing related to Rex, or even MSFS. Most likely a Windows or driver issue.
I have had this happen during flight occasionally. I don't use Rex Atmos but I am using Rex Accuseasons. I doubt the latter is using memory injection though. I have always thought of it as a driver issue.

For something that changes shaders/colors etc? Its a different app, it shouldn't be Atmos. What other apps do you have running?

 Atmos wont change your internet.

Again, Atmos has nothing to do with your internet. This is just ridiculous.

If it changes memory were the ethernet driver sits, it will.

Ok, so now we are starting to veer off topic. This is a hardware issue in a different part of the forums.

No, if Atmos is the cause, it is a software issue.

It only alters the memory of the MSFS process, why would it effect the Ethernet driver?
