October 3, 20241 yr Most people are refering to the cloud improvement and right they are, but .... let's not forget about what happens on the ground as well. I am talking about much better casting of cloud shadows on the ground. It only takes a few modest tweaks using haze, humidity, rayleigh to create a more realistic atmosphere than what the sim offers out of the box. It is no secret that FSX and now MSFS2020 suffer from oversaturated colors and unrealistic clear visibility all the way to the horizon. This tool for me brings the sim a few steps closer to some features where X-planes excells. It looks like it is possible now to create depth which in return translates to a better sense of world scale (i think). Overcast/ rainy situations create darkness in the sim. That's logical of couse but is is overdone. Even at noon it might as well be evening. With the lighting slider this can be corrected. And speaking of that slider. Today I was blinded by sun reflections in the cockpit in a way I have not experienced before. For that BLOOM needs to be turned on in the sim. This bloom effect I was familiar with but not in a way like today. I fly VR only by the way. Perhaps that helps as well. As for the GUI. Yes there are some flaws in its design. It could improve to have scrollbars when making the GUI window smaller so as to make sure all the sliders are still accessible. Also I think it should show which preset you have selected and are in the process of changing. And the reset button? Does it clear the settings from the sliders currently visible in the selected menu only or does it also clear one or both of the other two, if selected (so for instance, when clicking on the reset button when in an atmos profile, does that also clear an enviro and/or wheater profile when selected before entering the currently selected atmos sliders). Some folk seem to think there are some magical presets created by others. I do not think what will work for them will necessarily work for you or vice versa. All it takes, I think, is a bit of experimenting to get aquainted with what this and that does. When that learning phase is behind you I suppose you should be able to create a few presets yourself that can be used for certain scenarios or perhaps even permanently. October 4, 20241 yr I bought this and I'm actually quite happy with it. Use nvidia filters for contrast and saturation and the rest in atmos. It's not nearly as bad as some people claim. I've been looking for 3 years for a tool like this to be honest. It needs some numbers to know how much of a certain setting you apply. Currently is a bit of a guess how much you change. Overall this deserves more praise than it currently does. My nvidia filter options kept disappearing time after time and crashing my sim a couple of times a week. Since I only set the contrast and vibrance in nvidia filters it's not a big deal if the filters vanish for some strange reason. For all other parameters I use atmos. Have used it for 5 hours today and it has been perfectly stable. Cheers!
October 4, 20241 yr hmm so... i has just attempted a flight and arriving into LGAV using REX ATMOS and i was getting long pauses on approach and landing.Tried again without atmos. all was fine maybe the latest msfs update causing issues? mike

October 4, 20241 yr I have severe color deficiency in my vision. Because of this, I have learned to be very sensitive to contrast. I also use Windows and Mac OS color filters which help tremendously. FS itself has always seemed to be 'blown out' and out of white balance. But, having flown the virtual skies for so many years now, I don't think about it much. Today, I decided to try Atmos and ...WOW. The ability to make coarse adjustments to the environment and fine tune colors, (what appears to be) saturation and RGB settings among others has turned this into a whole new sim for me. Besides the sky and cloud contrast, the ability to change greenery makes a huge improvement to my in-sim depth perception. For me, it's a real game changer and it's reasonably priced. Thanks REX! I love how it looks. My only issue is the sun is too bright sometimes. Or maybe its my cloud settings? Sun flare is at its lowest so maybe its a cloud setting. Either way, love it. October 4, 20241 yr I tried if out for the first time last week. It is quite good , but it does take literally hours ( pack your patience folks) to get the right kind of scene ,especially when you want to get " as real as it gets" I really like the Cloud section ( cloud enhancement , cloud variety , thickness) . It really reduces the overblown colors when there are thick clouds around ( ground now looks real rather than some overly saturated painting). As for the Atmos tab ( Raleigh Scattering , etc). you have to be careful or else the sim will look like P3d v5 EA which looks like a hazy Smurf word ( way too blue). A few notches of RS to the right is more than sufficient. Raleigh Scattering is very usefull when flying dawn and dusk as the default colors are not that great. Would be great in future patches or versions that they could introduce the following Terrain Saturation/brightness Cockpit brightness ( kind of like we say in RDPresets in P3d). Avoiding the dark cockpit especially in HDR. Great price too.
