REX Atmos coming

An updated version for 2024 might even be relevant, as the improvements Atmos brings to the clouds are significant.

As MSFS 2020 and 2024 have almost everything in common I expect that Atmos 2024 can absolutely help with finetunig the image.

It's a pity this was released so close to the launch of 2024. I would have likely have purchased it, but i'll just wait to see what the new sim delivers first.

Ok. Seriously. Lets start sharing more settings.

REX has these beautiful pictures they show (I know everyone's monitors etc are different) but no presets from them? At least to have some kind of a head starts. Not just from Piett.

I've only made subtle changes:

  • increased ambient light slightly
  • increased Rayleigh slightly
  • increased ozone slightly
  • visual cloud enhancement max

Visual cloud enhancement:

Probably my favorite setting. Might be worth getting Atmos for this one alone.

If only you could share an actual number instead of “slightly “. Unfortunately they did not think to put numbers on the sliders. Bad UI design.

Tim and Reed.  Was able to make my first flight today with REX Atmos. After just over 4 years of longing for what I experienced today let me express my profound appreciation.  This was climbing out east of Dallas Love Field earlier today.  Brought tears to my eyes.

Is that preset that can be found through their UI?

True. Fine-tuning is very tricky. We need numbers on the sliders!

Yeah, I have uploaded a few of mine. Spent a while tinkering with it.

All of them have the word Subtle in them.

My favorite is my atmosphere changes though.

My presets are (weather) Live Weather Subtle, (atmo) Subtle Yet Smart Atmo and last but not least....(enviro) Subtle Blue Increased.

They should have been uploaded by now.

Give me some feedback!

Doesn't the program remember settings when I close it?

Every time I start the program I have to load saved settings or change settings manually, otherwise it doesn't do anything.

Yep, crazy isn't it.  Looks good, but wow it's not user friendly.

Sort of. There is a setting underneath the search bar to see public presets or ones only you have saved.

Im a bit afraid this product will need lots of changes in MSFS2024 because ASOBO  changed the rendering pipeline, the Ozon, the cloud density, the scattering, the clouds and implemented RayTracing and Photometric Lighting.  Also they've changed the whole Lighting system (Color, strength, etc.). So almost everything REX "enhances" via a non API method gets changed (remember the changes with the Ozon mod months ago?).

This is why I am not so keen on buying this. And my experience with REX software isn't great either. Lots of their products (back in P3D times) couldn't cope with the sim version released. To many changes (except the cloud textures enhancements and Airport textures).

Sorry REX, I can't fully understand this approach you choose. It's Just my opinion which I would like to share here.

But many pictures I like what I see. So there seem improvement....but how long do they "survive"?

Hi Marcus,

Surely they have changed some shaders but REX can always use the default shader values as a starting point. And with the sliders you can make that effect less or more.

I see nothing to worry about.
