Yes, and perhaps with an indicator, like an asterisk, when you are in the process of changing something to the saved profile.

It took them over ten years to implement something into their GUI allowing to know which preset is currently installed in the sim for Accuseason (or Accuweather), so why am I not surprised that they release the next product NOT offering this? Simply do not get why this seems such a monstrous task for the REX devs...

Not really liking this so far.

Interface seems "dumb" but maybe I am missing something.  If you go in and tweak one of the three Weather/Atmos/Enviro/ fine.  Then pick another and tweak it.  But you cannot so back go back to the previous category and see your setting and further tweak it.  I guess you could save a preset each time you might go back and forth, but that seems just wrong.  Should be able to adjust all categories then save.  Acts like three unrelated programs...

I've only made subtle changes:

  • increased ambient light slightly
  • increased Rayleigh slightly
  • increased ozone slightly
  • visual cloud enhancement max

Visual cloud enhancement:

REX Atmos addresses the occurrence of overly dark cloud coloring (commonly referred to by the community as "ash clouds”) within the simulator, replacing it with beautifully rendered, natural looking clouds that enhance the overall visual realism.

Probably my favorite setting. Might be worth getting Atmos for this one alone.

This program is what I've been waiting for since the release of MS2020!! I have complained many times on various forums how overall atmospheric visibility remains almost infinite....the atmosphere is too clean with little to no depth. Totally unrealistic in many locations around the globe.

Now at last...you can manually increase humidity to decrease distant visibility to provide some realistic depth to the atmosphere during live weather. This program is...because of this single feature.... absolutely amazing!! Well done to REX for developing such a tool!!

Hi everyone,

Tim and Reed.  Was able to make my first flight today with REX Atmos. After just over 4 years of longing for what I experienced today let me express my profound appreciation.  This was climbing out east of Dallas Love Field earlier today.  Brought tears to my eyes.

with MSFS 2024 less than 2 months away, atmos heaven can wait. so can I.

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Another positive is that you can somewhat temper the ridiculously clear and deepdark nightsky that by default will show the milky way and extremely faint stars. Not realistic and certainly not in populated areas with lots of light polution. By maximizing the sliders for Ozone and Rayleigh this seems to be somewhat tempered.

The problem however with the tool is that creating one profile for one scenario will often not go well together with another. So ideally the sliders should move in time and perhaps respond to wheather, geographic and other conditions I can't think of at the moment. It would take some clever programmer to do this and to know and understand what it means to add a little more to this slider and at the same time reduce another one a bit, so a sort of dynamic change from one set of presets to another.

Another thing I do not get is the Sun Angle slider. From 0-90 percent hardly noticeable difference and then from 90-100 percent a difference between day and night (literally)

From past experiences I have learnt that there will usually be a 6-12 months period for a new sim to get really stable. I hope I am wrong and it will all be super dooper optimized and free of unexpected CTD's, all my 2020 aircraft will work as advertised and my currents hardware will be up for the job.

But until then I am happy to have a stable 2020 to return to as comfort for being patient.

Well, to be fair, Asobo/MS have not said all addons will work, they have only said most.

To cover their butts for the ones that don't work 😛

I am totally on board with that, and humbly wish all the speculation about its successor would go away.  Especially with REX Atmos, the last of the important issues for me with FS2020 (wx element presentation) is now history for me.  Yes, default traffic and traffic control are still issues for me, but today finds me at a new high in terms of satisfaction with 2020 and a great deal of that is due to 3rd parties and former 3rd parties, WT, REX, Navigraph, Flightsimware, Blacksquare, and Flightfx to name a few.  And it is highly doubtful they would go away.

Please enjoy tossing and turning at night with your speculation.....

Yeah this is pretty cool. I tried a few of the popular presets on the main page....pretty sure someone is trolling as they've set some settings too far to the right. One of them made the ground look completely black everywhere. haha.

As for 2024.... Atmos, AutoFPS and a few other apps (pilot2atc version 3) I think I might hold off on 2024 for a while. Thanks, Rex.
