September 29, 20241 yr The solution is simple if your 2020 is steam, buy 2024 steam. If your 2020 is MS store, buy 2024 MS store. but anything you buy from the MS store or MS marketplace can be added to an Xbox console entirely free 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
September 30, 20241 yr Most are talking of steam or msstore, but I have the 2020 PD boxed version. With no 2024 boxed version mentioned, should I just select the msstore version? I’m not at home at present so maybe it will be in the ms library for me to pre-purchase. September 30, 20241 yr I decided to preorder MSFS 2024 PD edition as I already own 3/4 of the asobo marketplace aircraft, I'm not that interested in the remainder of the aircraft available. I was toying with getting the 707 but the reviews are pretty bad for it. If it improves I'll buy it. With the discount for future Asobo aircraft that appeal's to me, and the extra aircraft in PD it seems worth the extra cost. They are technically doing a physical (Premium Deluxe Edition JUMBO STEELBOOK) version if you really wanted a physical copy but didn't want to get the collections edition. It is still a digital game code for the MS Store version though so no DVDs/CDS but you do get the physical box/steelcase and a lanyard. September 30, 20241 yr A digital code version of the PD will do fine. I take it that pre-order delivery will be via the library download on my computer. Can I delete 2020 afterwards, but keep the original community folder with my addons? September 30, 20241 yr Bert, thanks, but will nearly 1TB transfer over As a lot of scenery addons are helipads etc? So they may not be necessary, or could cause conflicts. https://www.helisimmer.com/articles/hands-on-msfs2024-global-preview-event#does-it-have-helipads Edited September 30, 20241 yr by Tuskin38
September 30, 20241 yr As an ex FAA heliman I am also invested in HPG, but I’ll wait and see what they have modelled as I spend 6-7hrs per day flying the 145 and 160 throughout Europe. September 30, 20241 yr Scroll down to the second question and you find this: “Will Microsoft Flight SimulatorWill my Premium or Premium Deluxe Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) carry over no matter what edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 I purchase? If you own Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) Deluxe Edition or Premium Deluxe Edition the additional aircraft and airports unique to these editions will automatically work in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.” https://www.flightsimulator.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-2024-faq/ Seems pretty official to me, and that if you have the Deluxe or Premium Deluxe game of 2020 you won’t lose the use of any of the default aircraft from those packages. Therefore, purchase of the Standard edition of 2024 will suffice, if you do not care for any particular of the new default aircraft.

Guessing here.. but I expect MSFS 2024 to have its own Community folder which will be empty at startup. It is up to you to decide which items from your "saved" 2020 Community folder you want to move into it.. Bert

It is up to you to decide which items from your "saved" 2020 Community folder you want to move into it.. I will probably keep the Community folder empty until I have checked out the sim for a few days. I don't think I will simply move the Community folder items over though: Commercial aircraft addons often have folders/files in the profile directory (C:\Users\...\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe) containing license information and save states etc. If MSFS uses a different path, these files/folders will needed to me copied, and in some cases it will still not work. Piracy protection might also kick in. Commercial sceneries will probably be quite compatible but I will probably want to check each whether upgrades are available. Especially some of the older sceneries might be not as good than their upgraded MSFS2024 handcrafted version. Addons that are neither aircraft nor scenery are more likely to be incompatible without updates. And some might not be wanted in MSFS2024 anyway. So while we can simply copy the Community folder over but I won't expect everything to work right away.
