KSEA Seattle-Tacoma from FeelThere

Featured Replies

I was surprised to see KSEA from FeelThere available for purchase from Flightsim.to when I was checking out new files. I hadn't heard this was coming. I've just been using the stock KSEA with the ianthehippo enhancement (fixes the Alaska hangar and some other details), which is a pretty decent representation. I've seen all the negative feedback about BMW/AMSim's version, so I hadn't considered that one.

Anyway, I'll be curious to hear folks' impressions if anyone picks this up. I live in the area and fly out of KSEA, so definitely interested in a detailed version if it doesn't kill frame rates, has decent AI parking, etc.

Fake planes flown: MSFS / P3D v4.x / FSX / X-Plane 11 / Aerofly FS2 / IL-2 / DCS / FlightSafety 737-200 full-motion (Aloha 243 cockpit) / a zillion old sims
Real planes flown: Mooney 231, Cessna 310, F-15D (back seat), T-34B (front seat)

Ancient computer magazines I wrote about flight sims for: Computer Gaming World, Computer Games/Strategy+, Compute!, AmigaWorld
Rig: Core i9-13900K, RTX 4090, 32GB, HP Reverb G2, Winwing HOTAS and Turtle Beach pedals

By looks alone, it looks like typical FeelThere quality, which is rather unexceptional.

Their airports are priced low-ish for the size and you get what you pay for. Ultimately, they are an afterthought as they develop the models for their ATC simulator.

Avoid FeelThere at all costs unless it's an airport you absolutely need (and there is no other dev making it).  Their airports are better then the defaults but that's it.

Now we just have 3 subpar KSEAs.  I keep hoping DD or Taxi2Gate will do it as they have done a stellar job in the past. Or was hoping maybe it was a secret FlyTampa Project. but alas no.

The Feel There version has the iconic red gate numbers on the entire airport so thats a plus. The BMWorld KSEA always gives me a 30+ microstutter when approaching the airport. One time it was so long it completely upset my aircraft and caused an overstress so their version at least on my system isnt optimized very well. On the flip side people have said their KPHX is rough on fps but its butter smooth for me. Looks like BMWorld put a little more effort on their interiors of the terminals if you care about that. Cant say I would recommend either version. Taxi2Gate for P3Dv4 was better than both of these

I haven't heard many bad reviews of the BMWorld/Amsim, but would definitely have picked that version over the FeelThere option.

Their MMPR also had interior detailing-basic and unexceptional guessing KSEA the same.

To be fair they dont price to top of the line.  Many people also dont care about this.   No comments from me on SEA I'm happy enough with BMW/Amsim but Feelthere definitely fills a niche.  I have there BNA and its totally acceptable.  No regrets on purchase.

BMWorld/Amsim have lost my business.

Yeah I don't understand why they have not put the Iconic red gate numbers up there.  I have sent Alexy several hi-res pictures of them at night and during the day and show him that the ones he put on N and S don't look like that in real life and how much detail is missing from gate areas.  But that's' just the tip of the iceberg.  The parallax they use looks awful both in Seattle and Phoenix. The models of almost all of the terminals and their parking spots are incorrect, Ground markings are wrong.  They keep putting little band aids on things that are minor while leaving the worst stuff unattended to after 3 or 4 updates now.  It's really starting to irritate me. Like they added port of Seattle vehicles all over the place, that don't actually exist in real life.  They changed the way the gates look, but they still aren't realistic.  They put wig wag and runway guard lights in but those make the frame rate worse. They still haven't made all the model changes to the terminals I showed them high res pictures of.  They haven't fixed the parking spots either. I fly all the time and have access to several large airports and have lots of great hi-res photos.    They implemented a few minor changes in KPHX and KSEA some for good some for worse, but both still have major glaring issues.

And then to top it all off.  I sent them several pictures of the new D terminal extension in Phoenix.  And in the second update they changed to color and the model and it looked great.  And then for some reason they reverted to an old connector because Alexy said people like how it looks better.  It's not realistic. I gave Alexey no fewer than 10 hi-res pictures and two videos of the sky train at Phoenix and he told me people like the lighting your the only one who complains.  I told him there is no blue tron stripe like that on the sky train and there is no green light on Sound transit train in Seattle.  These are both unrealistic and fantastical representation.   I'm getting tired of people not knowing the airport deciding what looks good and how a scenery should look without evidence.  They also refuse to move the parking spots forward so that you can use the dual lanes in the alleys of the terminal fingers without having to put your wing through the AI aircraft in Phoenix.

In total there are still about 30-40 glaring issues with Phoenix and Seattle. I'm really hoping for DD Seattle and Flightbeam Phoenix.

So.... the only power I have is to not buy their sceneries which I have done.

Feel there... well we know what we get with that. They have gotten better, but only just. I still don't buy anything from them. I bought KSTL and it was a huge mistake.

I'm not a big fan of Feelthere airports either, but their Tucson version I find quite acceptable. I'm happy with my KSEA from BMI.

At this point, I hope Gaia did a good job improving the handcrafted default for MSFS2024.

You still have hope in Taxi2Gate? Those guys came back from beyond the grave with KMCO. And as expected, after two or three updates, they returned back underground and you will not hear from them for the next two years. They might come back by surprise with another scenery, nobody knows when.

The last post on their facebook page date from July 6th 2023, more than one year ago.

I have the BMW/AV version of KSEA and I have really liked it so far. I do notice performance issues but that is a pretty busy airport with a lot of PG around it
