4080 super versus 4090 question

They are crippling the 5080 in cores and vram, it's basically the 5070 at 5080 prices. They want to milk the 5090 for $2500. I wish AMD could compete in the higher end.

They are also limiting stock of 4090s now - they really are something

The RTX 4090 is also silly money, but it seems that plenty of flight simmers have purchased one. I would have to be a lottery winner to even think about shelling out well over £1500 for a graphics card.

I've had a 2080ti for years, but my PC upgrade was timed to occur at my retirement, thus a 4090 😁

CPU Ryzen 7800X 3D  RAM 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 6000MHz GPU GEFORCE RTX 4090
Monitor AOC AGON AG352UCG UltraWide G-Sync @ 3440x1440
Internal Storage 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD
External Storage Three 4Tb HDs

The 2080Ti would be a significant upgrade for me

It is still a great card, the top option when MSFS 2020 was released, I have owned it and it is on par with 4070 Ti except it doesn't support native FG, I think it is a great buy used today.

Well I bought the 4080 Super for more than half the price of a 4090.
60 fps max in Nvidia on my Sony TV.
Gameplay and smoothness the same as 4090 for my play settings.

Happy ....

MSI Tomahawk Z790, I7-13700K, DDR5 6000mhz, MSI 4090, 3x SSD 980 PRO, Corsair 360 Liguid CPU cooler, Corsair H1200V2 power.

FWIW I am Super pleased with my 4080 Super.

I have FG on in the sim, frames locked at 48 in Riva Tuner and 3X in LSFG for frame a rate of 144 which matches my G-Sync 3440X 1440 monitor refresh rate.

Smooth as the proverbial and rarely a stutter.

DX11 or DX12?

I use FG so that's always DX12.

I asked Noel 😉 (I'm at DX12 FG myself 🙃) Thanks for the response 👍

Thanks appreciated, no artifacts with LSFG... Just curious, and VSYNC enabled?
Tested with the latest and GSYNC still not happy here local (more to do with SU15 and FG)

Noel said he uses Frame Generation, this is only possible with DX12. So someone else can give the correct answer, even if not asked directly 😉

Vsync off in NVCP MSFS profile and ON in the sim settings.

With FG off in the LSFG app I get a little tearing when panning.

With FG on in the LSFG app I get no tearing.

This worked super with a 4090.
60 FPS set as max and the use of DLSS FG

As long as you're good with DLSS FG the lesser GPU should be more than adequate.  I can't stand the visual issues with it so the 4090 for me is used to amp up Render Scaling to 150 and that combined with AMD Fidelity FX at 200 delivers the sharpest imagery I've ever enjoyed and was worth it for that alone.  I'm hoping some day these DLSS FG aberrations are resolved but won't hold my breath.  In terms of raw processing power the 4090 is roughly 60% stronger than 4080 Super.
