NVIDIA DLSS DLL 3.8.10 released

Is a presence in "Content" even needed for an RTX 4xxxx series GPU?

That's been my belief so far. I think that the DLSS .dll files won't affect things in Windows on a "global" level - but need to be implemented for each game (or sim I should add). I use GPU-Z to check that the DLSS versions have been correctly "installed" for MSFS (after manually copying the .dll files to the content folder):

  • Just a general comment: Use the DLSS Swapper app. Makes the whole process painless.

So why would NV not advise of that accordingly?

Normally one is not expected to manually replace these .dll files. Some games update them more frequently than others. Last time I checked (perhaps a few months ago), MSFS was still on 2.4.1. which dates back to the launch of DLSS3 two years ago.

Didn' ask about MS/MS2020.  Asked about direction from Nvidia.  The put it out there (DLSS versions). They are then responsible for guidance.

I think it is up to individual game devs to decide if/when they will upgrade the game version of dlss. NVidia certainly would not be allowed to overwrite a game devs game files at will. They just make the files available to use/ not use.

Asobo has chosen not to update dlss version for two years now but it can be manually updated very easily by the end user if they choose.

Also, NVidia probably does not publish such info as they can’t openly advocate users to change game files out. That would upset the game devs and in some cases may even break stuff. It really is he game dev’s responsibility.

For whatever reason, Asobo just does not update their dlss version but fortunately we can, apparently with positive results.

I wonder tho if they will update the frame generation file any time soon. That one is “falling behind” and is the only one FG users would actually be using in the sim.

Then I guess you should have sent a letter to Nvidia's support section instead of replying to my comment... 🤷‍♂️

If you install the latest nVidia Geforce driver, 566.14, the new DLSS is included.

OK Thanks. I now have that one installed.

But it seems not to work for MSFS if the NEW  .dll file is not update the old .dll file that is in use in the MS content folder or am I seeing and understanding this wrong ??

cheers 😉

I read that in another thread. But it won't copy the file into the sim folder though. Or will it?

On my PC, after installing the new nvidia driver, the nvngx_dlss.dll in MSFS folder was still the MSFS default one. I had to manually copy it.

Hi, Vincent,

The same happened to me. I installed the new Nvidia driver 566.14 and this morning I've discovered that the nvngx_dll driver hadn't changed.

So, I've changed it manually.

Regards

My MSFS has been running super smooth since installing the new dll so it may have had an impact (though more likely is the fact that I switched off the rolling cache - which seems to cause stutters even though it is on a fast nvme drive).

A Driver Update has never ever replaced the DLSS DLL in Games. That's why software like DLSS Swapper exists in the first place.

What can be though is that a Driver Update will provide support or compatibility for certain DLSS Features. So best practice should always be to run the latest Driver when installing newly released DLSS DLLs.

I notice that people expect the blurred flat screens and 'fruit machine' effect on the tapes to be cured with each DLSS update, but while updates and tweaking settings might help a bit, the main issue is down to Asobo to deal with in sim with some kind of masking (their explanation).

I believe Martial was tasked to deal with it, so there you go.  Last I heard, when he was asked during a twitch session, the guy he needed to talk to had gone on holiday, that was six months ago of course.
