Yep agree, the last one should've been a massive deal showcasing what we're gonna get in greater detail. This then drip feeds to other outlets, free marketing, more day one sales but....nah, Jorg is MIA, that's disappointing and even though "silence is golden" it doesn't leave a very good impression.

Is it worth questioning? nah probably not, but it leaves a bit of a worrisome feeling that all might not be well. If all was well, then we'd hear much more than what we have had up until now.

Edit: scratch that I missed the start when he was there.....my main point still stands!

It's his massive project and it's 6 days away from release, I wouldn't expect him on that stream if I were a dev. He probably shouldn't be, there's always a lot to wrap up in the final week before a big release.

Sorry, I guess I missed something. Why would someone who ordered the collectors edition want the gamepass version?

There's delays shipping the CE copies out, so Microsoft is giving them a free month of Gamepass so they can still play the sim at launch while waiting for it to arrive.

I wouldn’t want it. But in theory I’d you wanted to use some of their other games?

Ah yea that's what I thought after I posted it. Why don't they just give them a key?

I assume because there's a key coming with the physical copy.

Too fast. I edited it, then you already replied. I guess its too much for them to remove the other key. I guess its also too much for them to just send out the aviator copies first then the rest of the swag after.

Agree to disagree, it was a chance to showcase his product, instead he sat there and apologised for the Collectors Edition mess up and informed us the Marketplace is gonna be closed for a few weeks. All he had to do was be there for 30minutes then hand it over to a member of the marketing team (presuming they have one...) and let them do the rest in building up the product, missed opportunity.

As it is with any release of a large new software product/system, for as long as such software has existed... given this is a whole new sim platform release and a set date is very hard to change given all the other stuff that has to be lined up, of course they are busy and likely feeling the pressure. And as with all other sim platform major version releases no one should be under any delusions that it's going to be bug free or there won't be teething issues. Good thing is we can keep using 2020 as-is while also trying out and enjoying 2024, or waiting till 2024 is stable enough to our liking.

No. He is not. This is literally a false statement.

Incidentally, you talk about marketing, but doing niche and ultra-specific livestreams for people who are already going to buy the simulator isn't at all the best use of the time of an executive applied to marketing. You don't seem to have a very clear idea of how marketing works in the gaming industry.

That's not the point. Jorg has been very present during the whole promotion of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Your statement isn't just false in regards to today, but overall. Your "main point" doesn't stand at all.

What you're describing is what you'd personally want to see, which is irrelevant to marketing because that's what people who are already buying the simulator want to see. Jorg/Microsoft don't need any marketing wins with us. You're confusing your wishes and what you personally want to see and hear about with good marketing, and they're absolutely not the same thing.

The Marketplace will be disabled at launch because of the current issues with 2020 backwards compatibility

They said that in the stream? If yes, thats a great news, wich i cant help to feel we devs should have known about that before you guys lol

He isn't wrong on the point about time management though. I work in marketing, a week out from project launch isn't the time to take overall project management staff and shunt them into marketing tasks - in my experience every time that happens, projects suffer or the time crunch gets worse.

They probably should have directed one of their community managers into more of a direct participation marketing role for the streams, but this one was meant for Hans to be able to show off his airplanes anyways, so it's not like this was supposed to be an overall state of the sim stream.

They're getting plenty of paid and free media over the next week anyways - it hardly matters. If you're watching the stream a week before, you're buying or have already bought. Jorg's limited time would be much better spent sitting for an interview with PCGamer, for example, if it's going to be marketing activities.

Exactly.

I am bracing for the onslaught of absolutely dumb(but still good for promotion) articles from the generalist gaming press about MSFS 2024. There's going to be a gazillion. Actually, they have already started 😂
