Holy cow, are you kidding me, not having one's PC clock sync'ed exactly to the web will cause major loading issues. That's retarded.

I think all the computers at Asobo are ship shape and time synced so that they don't realize one of the problems that was causing some of these issues right after release day.

Otherwise the official MS site would have put up a big warning when 2024 was released about checking the time.

I was just lucky because D4 had been resetting my time for about 3 years now. That's why I had no issues with load times from day 1.

My install was so easy - 35 minutes from the time I paid Steam to my first flight.  Things have gone well much of the time.  BUT...

The inconsistency of frame rate, resource usage, visual images is a real depressant.  Much of the time I have a great flight, good scenery, high FPS, everything is great.

I then return to the Main Menu to start a new flight from the same location and response time is terrible, frame rate is low single digit, and airplane controls lag several seconds behind desktop controls.  Nothing I do, short of restarting the sim, gets me back to the "nice flight" I was enjoying.  I see no network traffic but CPU Frame time is unchanged from the high FPS session.

Or, I change a weather preset and everything basically stops working.  I return to the original preset and nothing is working and I have to restart.

When 2024 is working properly it is a joy!  But, it is so erratic that I think I will stick with 2020 for a while.

All this with an empty community folder, 2024 on a dedicated NVMe device, and a consistent 1 Gbs connection.

I am sure that this will all be corrected and the potential I see in 2024 will be realized.

And, Oh Yes - let's figure out how to keep the control settings from session to session.

Oh yes, I agree, just getting to the main menu was a huge win, but its not like its all grand and glorious now 🙂

I've seen a bunch of these hangs and gremlins too, camera still drives me nuts. But at least now I can make progress.

Apart from the server issues the first few days, i have had no issue. Compared to 2020, where we had ctd's constantly for at least the first couple of months. Spiked terrain for months. and then the SU5 disaster, where dev's had to start again because the platform was to include XBox. It took year's for 2020 to get where it is.

Is that an invisible tornado?

It was more like anti-gravity or Wingardium Leviosa; the jetways lifted up slowly and started dancing around 😂. I haven't seen it happen again.

That's brilliant!

Ironically the thread from people who have it working is worth 100 (IMO) from those who have problems! Because these lucky/skilful folks have good tips to give!

I installed it on day 1 and only started it on day 4 (was following all the dust it has created the first days). No issues with the sim.

I took me some hours to set up my controls and fly since then with no issues (some minor stutters maybe due to scenery loading and my internet connection).

After being part of the 97% club, and some fun configuring controls, I made it to work.

After some messing around to try various things, had couple of complete VFR flights, low and slow, and an IFR with the bus. What I cant understand, is how is it possible that with 2020 I can easily get 60FPS in normal conditions (excluding KLAX or EDDF with fulll traffic where they go down a little), while of 2024, with similar or lower settings, and no addon airports, I struggle to reach 30fps. I can lower graphic setting even more, but no difference, always GPU limited and around 30fps.

My install was great from MS store. It downloaded and installed so fast I thought that I missed something, but everything installed as should. I've flown the US east and west coasts, Australia, Hawaiin Islands and Japan. So far, no issues.
