What is the point of a thread about those it WORKS for.... the real problem is all of us that it does NOT work for. I reinstalled it after seeing claims about how now MS has "fixed" it. Well they've done nothing, it still was sitting in that starting vid 15 minutes later. They've fixed nothing, so I uninstalled it a second time.

Now if only I could get my money back,  thanks MS for refusing to refund for a product that is completely broken.

A possible fix for you

Works first day. Had a few corrupted packages. Easily fixed by deleting streaming packages and rollingcache. Also be sensible with settings, turn the dev mode on and adjust the settings to avoid ctd's

Works like a charm ... had an amazing flight from KLAS to KSBA on the Fenix Airbus 319. I also tried the Airbus 330-200 ... works great. The landscape is just fabulous. No major proplems so far. But have to admit, it took me many many hours to configure all the views, buttons, traffic, install my Navigraph panels, VPilot and to figure out how to handle the new stuff in the simulator.

But I have a new system just for MSFS 2024 with AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, ASUS ROG Strix X870-F, 64 GB RAM 6000 MHz, 2 TB Kingston FURY Renegade Gaming M.2 and a PNY RTX 4090. The Internet is a 10GB Fiber.

So far great experience and I am more than happy.

Starting last night, and thx to a post here at AVSIM pointing to:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/activating-packages-takes-20-mins-on-every-start-of-the-sim/670233/100

not only does FS 2024 work beautifully in my med/low rig but loading times take now 1/3 of the time they used to !!!

This makes a whole LOT of a difference!

I suggest that this fix should be pinned at the top of the FS 2020 / 2024 forum...

Other than that, and although I will always be critic regarding the flight dynamics, FS 2024 has already became by far my preferred EVER! General Purpose Civil Aviation Ecossystem Simulator !

Let us know JFV, if it did. Something strange was going on because I and thousands others had no issues with installation or boot times. So it was a strange something or other that caused the problem.

I'm reinstalling now...  I'm optimistic, because when I looked at my settings, the last clock sync was 10/20. Weird, when I set an automatic setting I'd expect a sync on every boot. Windows.... lol.....

That's what happened to me about 6 months after 2020 was released. Windows was not resetting the time on my clock. All electric clocks on our walls lose time and so was the electric clock in Windows.

D4 app will keep logging into internet time servers, different servers, lots of servers, until one works. D4 doesn't stop trying again and again until the time server actually does reset your local clock so that it now matches the atomic time on the server.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry, ROFL. This did it. I could tell right off it had some effect because the opening vid was having some stuttering. But, sure enough, I was at the main menu in just under 3 mins!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the help!!!!

If bad local time screwed 2020, why did not Asobo make sure that 2024 did not have that issue? Bad local time did not screw up FSX.

Yes, well of course FSX had no notion of the cloud, it was 2006 after all. It's just general Windows shoddy design, if you set "automatic time"... or Network time as its called in Linux, then it should be constantly resync'ed, at least every boot.

My install was so easy - 35 minutes from the time I paid Steam to my first flight.  Things have gone well much of the time.  BUT...

The inconsistency of frame rate, resource usage, visual images is a real depressant.  Much of the time I have a great flight, good scenery, high FPS, everything is great.

I then return to the Main Menu to start a new flight from the same location and response time is terrible, frame rate is low single digit, and airplane controls lag several seconds behind desktop controls.  Nothing I do, short of restarting the sim, gets me back to the "nice flight" I was enjoying.  I see no network traffic but CPU Frame time is unchanged from the high FPS session.

Or, I change a weather preset and everything basically stops working.  I return to the original preset and nothing is working and I have to restart.

When 2024 is working properly it is a joy!  But, it is so erratic that I think I will stick with 2020 for a while.

All this with an empty community folder, 2024 on a dedicated NVMe device, and a consistent 1 Gbs connection.

I am sure that this will all be corrected and the potential I see in 2024 will be realized.

And, Oh Yes - let's figure out how to keep the control settings from session to session.

Holy cow, are you kidding me, not having one's PC clock sync'ed exactly to the web will cause major loading issues. That's retarded.
