December 3, 20241 yr Author Interesting. This is what ChatGPT said when I asked the question:- Yes, a server issue at Microsoft's end can cause a crash to desktop (CTD) in MSFS 2020. Since MSFS relies heavily on online streaming for scenery data, live weather, multiplayer, and other services, any disruption in the connection to Microsoft's servers can result in issues that may cause the game to crash. For example, if the simulator loses connection to essential data streaming or experiences syncing problems with the servers, it can lead to instability. In such cases, you may notice issues like: Slow loading or freezing before the CTD. Error messages related to "Online Services" or a prompt about connectivity loss. While server-side issues can cause CTDs, it’s always worth ensuring that your local system, mods, and third-party add-ons are stable, as they can also trigger crashes. Disabling mods temporarily and running MSFS in offline mode can help you determine if server-side issues are the primary cause. Stress testing is not something you do with a piece of software and then it's stable. Stress testing is a multi-faceted approach of a lot of high insensitivity applications and a lot of low impact programs, like games, that hit your hardware different due to not just hitting the highest end of the spectrum. Overclockers see this constantly, you can run Prime95, OCCT and Y-cruncher for days and it be stable but play a game for a few hours and suddenly the PC can crash and reboot because a lower range instability was exposed. It's a tale as old as time. YAAS! All this. And I am sure it was mentioned but addons are a particular culprit. Even if you didn't update or download something from a third party. Even from the market place. Scenery can conflict with other scenery sometimes. However, most of this was resolved prior to and up to SU15 if I remember correctly. I had nothing but problems, clean install. Still CTD's out of nowhere. December 4, 20241 yr Well i have found the culprit for me and it was the nvidia driver latest. I rolled back to previous driver and no more pc shutdowns. Thought it might help others. Mike

In the 90's, a user complained their HP workstation had coloured spots on the display. I swapped stuff out and it made no difference until the last thing I tried, the CPU. Nah I thought, so I put the CPU in another PC and... coloured spots on the display. I logged a call with HP and they laughed at me. When I finally got an engineer out, he asked (laughing) whether it was me that thought a CPU was causing coloured spots to appear on the display. One hour and a CPU replacement later, he was laughing no more... Having read other guys posting similar experiences in 2020 over the past few weeks, I thought I'd share my experience. No new addons, no 2024 installed, soooo....? I had DXGI ctds this morning. The sim couldn't pass the loading screen. Last night was fine. Found the solution on Avsim. December 4, 20241 yr I also had three DXGI CTD's this morning, never had this before. Everything was perfect when I last flew on Friday of last week. I had updated too the latest NVIDIA drivers and the sim was performing amazingly, I actually thought to myself it was the best I had seen in quite a while. December 4, 20241 yr I have just completed a quick flight at ORBx ESNU Umea this evening, and I noticed some black lines in a lake for the first time ever in MSFS 2020. These are not those "land bars" that I have mentioned countless times in the past. They are the "thin black lines" that appear and disappear as you fly past. I had assumed that they were a phenomenon related to having PG enabled, but sadly that does not appear to be the case. However, I remain puzzled as to why it has taken me so long (a full year) to see any of them on my own PC Maybe the conspiracy theorists could enlighten me as to whether this has anything to do with MSFS 2024?
