2 Settings make ALL the difference

Turning off the dynamic settings has definitely improved if not eliminated my microstutters. I have another 400 miles to go before I can test the approach

Thx for the tip 🙂

Dynamic is designed to do what MSFS AutoFPS does, except, it doesn't do it anywhere near as well as AutoFPS

  • The default is 16 GB. 1 TB committed??? So much for the thin client... @OP, the dynamic setting is what probably caused stuttering, changing TLOD dynamically as you flew. Also, if you change two

  • A cache by definition only makes sense if you fly constantly in the same area, because it will have to download/stream the scenery anyway the first time you fly there.

Where are the dynamic  settings to find. I am not on my System.

I just went to increase my rolling cache from 64 to 128 ( and turned dynamic settings ) and noticed my rolling cache was 0.0. No wonder i have been having issues the last couple of days.

I have seen mention that the most recent FS2024 update may have taken the rolling cache back to zero.

I found mine is zero & will be upping it & also moving it off the C drive to an SSD with more space as C is pretty full.

I'm pretty sure I just INCREASED my smoothness yet again.  Not only did I (and many others on this thread it seems), increase my cache size (mine to 150), and turn off dynamic settings, but I also came across another idea from reading more about MSFS performance.

It seems that the cache was located on my C drive, which is not where I placed it.  MSFS places it on the C drive.  I created a folder on my J drive, which is where I have MSFS on its own M2 drive.  I then moved the rolling cache to that FASTER drive.

Just finished a flight from KBUR and over Los Angeles and over heavily populated scenery, and it was so much SMOOTHER than I usually experienced there before.  Buttery Smooth!!!

Just a thought.

Sorry, I can’t find the “cache” parameter. The closest I could see was under Global Rendering Quality>Off Screen Terrain Pre-caching.

Is it to be found somewhere else?

Hmm, I’m getting a message when I try snd change the Rolling Cache. But nothing seems to be happening….just the circling white arc.

The message says:

Please Wait

Updating the Rolling Cache.

This may take several minutes. Please don’t turn off the system or close Microsoft Flight Simulator while rolling cache changes are being processed.

Yes mine did that too but only for 5-10 seconds max. What value have you increased your rolling cache to?

I have increased mine to 64GB.

Has it updated in the settings?
