Nvidia driver 572.16 crashing MSFS 2020

Featured Replies

So I updated to Nvidia driver 572.16 on Friday. I always use DDU to uninstall the older driver first. After installing tha latest driver 2024 loads no problem but 2020 crashes just after checking for a update screen finishes. If I uninstall 572.16 and go back to 566.36 both Sim load without issue. Any Ideas? Thanks

I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988.

Windows 11 Pro loaded on a 4TB Gen5 Crucial T700 SSD, 4TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD, Ryzen 9 7950x3d, AS Rock X670e Taichi Motherboard, Gigabyte Gaming RTX 4090 OC 24GB, 64GB (2x32GB) Viper Venom  DDR5-6000MT/s, MSI 32" MAG 321UPX QD-OLED 260hz 4K Gaming Monitor.

there is some talk about nVidia App causing such issues, try uninstalling it (if it is installed with the new driver).

good luck.

No crashes here in 2020 so far , Try re-installing the Nvidia app, it also fixed the DLSS unsupported message

Nvidia driver 572.16 is terrible - was chucked out there for 5090 cards - it needs work

I'm back to  Nvidia driver 566.36 - its a great driver - I only use 2024 Steam edition

Hmmm...I need to do a further test later, did a short flight yesterday with DLSS4, still have PFD ghosting issues but it's better than before, performance wasn't bad either, maybe coz it was a short 1 hour flight.

Yeah.....stick with the 566.36 drivers. Contrary to popular opinion, updating graphics drivers is (in my experience) a generally pointless exercise unless you have a problem.

I experienced exactly the same problem with 2020. Thanks for the tip (I nearly did a full re-install) I removed the app and the sim started first time. I have just had a great flight. I am using the latest driver without problems.

I had an issue with 572.16 where by the sim would microstutter every 2 to 3 seconds in a rhythmic cycle. I tried everything in graphics settings to aveliate it, but could not.

Also, when the driver installed the first time, my monitor turned off and I had to reboot the commputer manually, never seen that doing an Nvidia clean install before.

And finally, after trying the new DLSS 4 settings, although the glass displays are much better, they are still laggy and blurry compared to TAA.

Anyway, I've gone back to the 566.45 driver and the micro stutter every couple of seconds is now gone.

Maybe this is the driver you should stick with unless you really need DLSS 4.

I spent hours trying to get DLSS4 with the new driver to work despite using NV app, and later Inspector and no matter what I did 2020 would essentially freeze up before I could even hit the Fly! button.  Rolled back to a circa Nov 2024 driver update that was in prior to updating, dropped the two DLSS4 files in and am enjoying that now with no need to get it extracted out of the latest driver.   It's a bit better, but nothing earth shattering in terms of anything:  performance might be slightly better, IQ is comparable to DLSS3.8. and ghosting is similar as well.  But I'm also very used to excellence in IQ using TAA, RS150, AMD FX 200, and even GFE's Details filter.  The only reason I'm sticking with DLSS+DLAA is it helps with the strobing/flicker I get with FG.  And all of this, only because I added BATC and that threw just enough over the edge that I had to make peace with FG.  It's decent for sure as long as I use tricks to make the strobe/flicker go away.

No problems what so ever with this driver for me. I used NVcleanstall to debloat it.

I did not install the app, instead I used nvidiaInspector to get DLSS 4 working. (Win 10 & MSFS2020).

It's the Nvidea app that is causing the problem not the driver

Delete the app and 2020 should boot up.

I agree though. This whole thing is quite  disappointing

MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

Take note I uninstalled app also and lost my control panel tried some ways to get it back but couldn't so had to reinstall app - rolled back from latest driver as I don't like it

FYI at some point we will not have control panel as we know it app will be the only option 😞
