February 4, 20251 yr It looks like NVIDIA has fixed CTD during loading MSFS 2020 with Directx 11 and NVIDIA app installed. 1 Download Nvidia Hotfix 572.24 https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5624 2 Uninstall the current NVIDIA driver using DDU in windows safe mode. 3 After the restart, install the downloaded hotfix driver. February 4, 20251 yr Hmmm, will it harm my now more than stable / gorgeous / performant / lovely / passionate FS 2024 install, when I do not even use FS 2020 anymore ? I always like to update to the latest versions of all base and productivity / gamming software I use, but sometimes I have had not so good experiences ... It'll probably mess around with my DLSS4 setup too... Well, will see... After a cup of nice Portuguese red wine 🙂 Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
February 4, 20251 yr Ah, that explains why 572.16 is working so well over here... DX12. I saw some reporting CTD's but didn't want to be "that guy" who comes into the thread to tell someone having an issue it's working fine for me 😶 Now seeing it was DX11 causing the issues makes sense but then I would question why even go to 572.16 if you are on DX11 and not using DLSS... That is pretty much the whole point f this driver release. Isn't DX12 required for DLSS? Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Of course, CTD may still occur on some hardware configurations and that wouldn’t be surprising since every system is different. In any case, I’m not experiencing CTDs but that doesn’t mean others won’t.

It caused stuttering / skipping for me, and I was hitting 60 FPS on 4k ultra in the main anyway in DX11, so I just went back, especially as we had the missing tile problem in DX12 for ages. I finally switched to DX12 in MSFS2020 when that was fixed. FG is still a mixed bag for me in MSFS2024, but my performance is similar to MSFS2020 without FG it anyway. I am looking to try DLSS4 when they have made it easier to switch, as I would still like a bit of overhead at the bigger airports. It was chugging a bit on Portland to Seattle in the default Max the other night! Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Afraid not that simple, I'm on DX12 and had major black screen issues with 572.16 I've now rolled back a couple of iterations of the driver and seem stable, I hardly ever update drivers if they are working but thought Id give 572.16 a try, I've (re) learnt my lesson and i'm not going anywhere near this hotfix driver🤐 Edited February 4, 20251 yr by Rusty Spanner
