My VKB is working.

What is the issue? (I have one, which is that some key is continuously recognized. I am sure I could troubleshoot this, however manages to assign right button by being quick, press assign and that very quickly following your joy key).

Believe me I've tried! I might try and unplug the STECS as I only want to assign a button on the Gladiator. This might give me a chance to assign the button I want.

For only £25, BATC transforms AI traffic and ATC and it's stupidly easy to setup and use. My only complaint is that I can't bind VKB controller buttons.

A matter of opinion of course. It doesn't even offer VFR in its current state. Therefor it cannot be the best, unless IFR is all you care about 🙂

This is exactly what I do as a workaround. It'd be nice if it wasn't necessary though...

Ahh OK, now I get it. Yes, disconnecting STECS also works, the reason for that is that the white switch on STECS, which is used to switch profiles usually, is permanently sending a button-push. You can see that in the VKBDevCfg, as it lights up. The simplest solution is to deactivate it via said software.

As you mentioned, you can see in the VKB diags that both the STECS and the Gladiator send a constant button push, but I wonder why this only affects BATC as this doesn't happen in any of my other games or programs that can poll for controller input.

Oh, yes, it does, but depends on how the software handles the inputs. For instance, SPAD has different modes on how to configure the device, and with certain "fast" mode (or simply call it normal), it causes issues. With another one, called Gamepad mode, it works great. Now, in SPAD I can configure buttons to work differently, so it helps with such advanced hardware. It's not hardware problem, and it ain't a software problem. Just have to understand why and work around it.

I am totally enamored with BATC's ultra user-friendly interface.  It is exquisitely simple yet fully effective.  I tried FSHud recently and did not like it by comparison, at all.  Needs more time to be sure before concluding much. I've unfortunately not made peace with BATC's traffic injection and management due to both performance impact and stuttering AI traffic on the ground and in the air, when seen from fairly close as in takeoffs/landings/taxi.  So I am ultra thankful that I can still use FSLTL's models AND injector and at the same time BATC's ATC only and while it's not ideal, traffic separation problems just hardly happen.  So it's kind of mostly ambience but with it comes ultra smooth AI traffic and a very substantial increase in performance at the same plane density.  And bonus it cuts way down on Premium voice use because BATC's ATC is only communicating with you.  I went back to LiveATC for background local chatter.  I would very cool if BATC could also accommodate other injectors, like FSLTLs.  I think that is what FSHud is doing in my case.

Yes it is, thank you for pointing out the obvious.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to check that out! Being able to deactivate the switch on the STECS would actually be very useful, as I'd like to configure a secondary PTT button on the STECS for when I'm on autopilot.

You are very welcome! It may not have been obvious to all, your comment was quite subjective, to say the least. Have fun with BATC my friend, sorry to have offended you.

I tried it for a week or so, but not impressed.  Always climbs to the same altitude after departure, often clears for the ILS miles away from the airport, and often descends way too early/late.

Back to Say Intentions for me, so I can interact with ATC in a more natural and realistic way.

I've tried both and both had issues, especially on approach. Since December though, I've had very few if any problems with BATC. Haven't tried SayIntentions since December, so can't speak to that, but the experience has been solid on BATC. And for the difference in price, I'll always have BATC as my default and maybe on a month when I'm on vacation and have a week at home just for this, I'd get SayIntentions if it works well. ACARS is pretty cool on SayIntentions, very cool on the PMDG 777.

Not bashing SI btw, I think it's super immersive. But since BATC added traffic injection and cleaned up their IFR approaches, I feel that at least for IFR flights, BATC is a very compelling and solid competitor.

VKB keybinds work for me. I have the always on top keybind + the speak keybind and all works alright.

Well ... I like it. I'm glad it can use FSLTL models as they're quite detailed. The BATC GUI is logical and very simple to use (Asobo take note!!!). It's also great to hear ATC comms in a language closer to what you might expect (even in the base product). Looking forward to whatever the devs throw at us :)

I try to post NOT to up my post count, but to help others who want the most essential add-ons for msfs 2020. I'm the same guy who thinks that default atc is good enough for VFR.

I'm on the early access version - does that mean LLM is automatically activated (with the latest update)? I can't seem to be able to tell, one way or another.
