Wireless TrackIR?

What size display do you have? I ask because I have a 34" curved monitor and was interested in the Tobii until I saw they recommend no larger than 30". Just wondering how well it works on a larger display.

I have it mounted under my 45" curved 21:9 monitor and it's working flawlessly.

    Tobii

I recently got a Tobii - use it for head tracking only and mounted it on a Tripod to keep it away from my screen. Can't fly without it any more.

Another vote here for Tobii.

I had TrackIR for many years and the trackclip pro kept braking, and then stopped working so I ended up using the hat clip, which worked ok but I have an external window behind where I sit and can't locate my setup anywhere else in my house, so I couldn't really use TrackIR during the daytime.

I purchased Tobii a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. It works very well, although I do turn off eye tracking but it worked very well with eye tracking enabled with my glasses on. The only problem is that it doesn't currently work very well natively with MSFS2024 like it does in MSFS2020, I think this issue will be addressed soon(I'm hoping).

The main problem with Tobii I see in reviews etc. is that it isn't as steady as TIR, specially when zoomed in. Perhaps those people don't have it set up correctly...? The idea of not having to wear anything, even wireless, is quite appealing.

The cheap options which sort of work like Tobii seem to be okay-ish but of less quality...

Tobii isn’t as accurate as trackIR, but it never bothered me much.

I've used the original Track Clip on a baseball cap for 20 years now. Wow is it that long? There's no need to use anything else in my view.

I've not had a TIR so can't compare but I usually turn off head tracking when doing things like programming the MCDU/FMC. I've got shortcuts on my flight controller to jump to different views and another button to just toggle head tracking on/off.

I didn't think any head tracking solution would be suitable to do things whilst zoomed in or doing things like programme MCDU? It's good enough for doing stuff on the overhead panel when looking up but not for more fiddly tasks. You can assign a "dead zone" to your head movements but it's a balance of keeping the view steady vs having to move crazy amounts before the camera starts moving. I can't say this was ever an issue for me but everyone is different.

The new Chaseplane version apparently allows you to do all this seamlessly in one button press now!  Just look towards a smart view you've set up, click a button and you're in that view with head tracking off, then button press again and you're straight back in pilot view with head tracking on again 😄

Wow that would be fantastic! I thought they said they can't support Tobii yet? And it was MSFS20 at the start - I've now moved to 24.

It's revolutionary I think...going to make things so much easier and hands off, if it works!

And I have it under my 49" curve 32:9 monitor. It basically has a range, of around 27"-30" of tracking, but since you have the tracker in the center of the display, that's all you really need. Works great and I love the no wires solution. I also mapped a joystick button to activate/deactivate tobii since I don't need to move around all the time.
