HAGS should be on if you are using either native FG

This is why I haven’t tried turning it off. The problem has continued throughout my testing. Here’s what I’ve done:

Ran an Ethernet cable directly to my router

Reset my boards CMOS

Cleared rolling cache

Lowered TLOD to the minimum

cleared Wasm

reinstalled Nvidia Drivers

updated all motherboard software and drivers

turned FG off

Turned SMT on

disabling memory compression

What I have not tried yet:

Empty community folder

manually clearing shaders

clearing scenery indexes

Hags off

Resize bar off

Like I said, the weirdest part is that it’s completely smooth on the ground, before and after a flight. It only starts hitching in the air. Testing scenarios have been PMDG 777 and flights out of SFO, LAX, SEA, LHR, or DXB.

Do you use Navigraph?

Yep

With the empty Community folder, I would get the default C172, fly up to 10,000 feet for a good distance and see if you get the stutter/hitching.

If that flight is successful (smooth), the first thing I'd add back in would be the navigraph stuff.  Then repeat the C172 flight at altitude.

The weird thing is, outside of the hitching, FS24 runs like a dream...so incredibly smooth. At KSFO in the PMDG with BATC or S.ai traffic, it's silky smooth...and i mean, really really smooth. It stays this way until around 3000 feet. Same goes for KSEA, KLAX. Then I start getting really bad hitching and stuttering...for a few moments, then it smooths out again. The cycle repeats smooth, stutter, smooth, stutter. If I'm flying a slower plane, it's non existent, the whole experience is very smooth. I thought it was because of using a complex plane, but if it was that, it wouldn't make sense that the scene is so smooth while on the ground...that's usually where it's heaviest.

I'm wondering why this is happening. Monitoring my system, the CPU will spike for a second, then go back to normal. I'm wondering if it's the download speed of the tiles and PG. Tried disabling PG, and the stuttering was definitely reduced, but was still there. Tried using the map enhancement tool...couldn't really notice any difference..but this was with PG enabled. Internet speed is excellent, but at this point, it really seems like there's something going on with loading the tiles and PG. It's almost like the sim pauses while loading a new batch of downloaded tiles. ChatGPT suggested that turning the "Precached scenery" down to High as opposed to having it at Ultra. Haven't tried that yet, but will next load.

I'm in the beta, but this was happening with the live version as well. Actually joined the beta to see if it would remedy the problem. If anyone has any suggestions or is experiencing anything similar, i'd really appreciate your input.

Are you using AUTOFPS version 0.4.4.8 or later? I did notice some issue when using it....but I am still testing and not 100% sure if that is the cause. But quitting the app recovers my stutter instantly.

i was..but the problem seemed worse with it running. So i've turned it off for now.

Thanks for the suggestion. Flight was unsuccessful...I didn't use the 172 though, it was the default 737. Hitches were a bit less compared to the PMDG, significantly reduced with PG off, but still there. This is with everything on Ultra and TlOD at 400. I'm starting to think it may have something to do with frame gen. next step is to disable HAGS.

Did you have this problem before you installed the 5090 card?

Try disabling the rolling cache, it might help with the stutters.

This is how: "point the RC to an empty directory, close the sim, delete that directory, start the sim. The RC size should now show 0.0." Along with doing the above, I also reduced the Terrain Pre-Cache to HIGH and selected the Asia server...it's not a FPS, so the high ping doesn't matter. The idea is to go to a server with less load.

I had this in both 2020 and 2024 after i built my new rig after Christmas using a fresh install of Windows 11 24H2. Back in January I rolled back to Win11 23H2, I used a version that was prior to December, I can't remember which one. Since I did this I have not had it happen even 1 time since, I fly every weekend at peek times here in the US. It is an issue with MSFS that does not play nice with something in the newer updates in Windows, I have seen in the main MSFS Forum thread that some even experience it on Win 10 and 23H2 with the newer updates. I have had to keep my Windows updates paused to make sure that it does not get corrupted.

Edit: Here is the thread I talked about, there are lots of different things people are trying but most of them only work for a short time https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/audio-stutters-in-menu-globe-and-on-ground-during-flight/718524/512

The ordeal one must endure after having spent 5,000+ USD on a config like yours 😞

Just recognize that FS2024 is still a wreck after 6 months and 2 sim updates, come on. On top of the awful performance, ridiculous draw distance, missing aircraft lights and contrails, airport elevation problems everywhere, assets popping in and out, UI regressions, ATC doesn't work, the AI traffic is a total mess... and I could go on.

Do you want to play a sequel that is a net improvement under every aspect with respect to its predecessor? Play Kingdom Come Deliverance II or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

FS2024 just isn't it, sorry, despite what a few worshippers on the forums say. Maybe in one year, but not now.

I thought RC in 2020 was really for only those using PG, but wasn't sure if that was true.  I stopped using RC in 2020 because I disabled PG.  Does anyone really know if we need RC if we have PG disabled in 2024?
