Hard to compare performance from one user to another as the plane you fly makes a big difference.
Fenix A320 no problem on 2024
Ini A350, Stutterfest on 2024.
Default planes, No problem.

I mean 2020 wasn't really decent until 2 years after.  Asobo has learned a lot but it's true they have regressions...these things do happen though.

  • ROFLMAO!! what a TEASE !!!.. CTD on what was one of the smoothest touchdowns ive done in MSFS2024. I was marveling at how well everthing was going and how smooth and stutter free the framerates w

I still get stutters on landing in SU3. The Fenix seems to be the worst for me. The ini a21n seemed to land with no stutters, or in the realm of acceptable.

Mind if I ask your computer specs? That video was buttery smooth. I'm running a 7800X3D with an RTX4090 (3440x1440) and get nowhere near that consistent chop-free smoothness, even in 2024.

Intel 12700k, 32gigs DDR5, rtx4070ti super, 32" 1440p Gsync screen at 2560 x 1440.

Frames locked at 30fps,  FSR3 frame generation x2. DLSS K preset, set to balanced.

Edit; and Autofps set to control TLOD and OLOD only. Settings either ultra or high.

Also, I don't use the dynamic lod setting they introduced into MSFS2024. I can't remember what it's called. I switched it off back in December and forgot about it. It's a good idea badly implemented. Autpfps is far and away superior.

I wonder if these 'stutters on approach' people suffer from are induced by this feature?

Nah, I am sure all the stutters come from Payware airports and the VRAM usage is really high.
24 has issues with stutters once you start getting close to vram limits.
If I can keep my VRAM around the 14-16gb range on my 4090 the sim is really smooth but once I start getting higher than that it start to stutter.

Also certain planes cause more stutters than other (ini A350) is a good example of causing more stutters.

At the end of the day there is an underlying issue with the core sim (2024) compared to 2020.
The same addons I use in 2024 which cause tons of stutters are butter smooth in 2020 and I feel it's a VRAM issue whether it be a VRAM leak or something else.

It's also hard to compare one person's experience with another's.  One person just flying default planes into default airports is more than likely not going to have any issues at all vs another person using complex payware planes, airports and somethings like GSX.
