Even with late arrivals Amtrak looks better and better.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Let's not make this a political topic! 🥷

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱

You really need to make a list of what we can’t mentioned, this is getting silly

Well, like I've said before, the "golden age" of flying went out the window with deregulation, price wars, and the advent of new low cost(also low class and low quality) airlines.  Once this happened, the major carriers implemented cost saving measures in order to compete and keep their profits high, which meant lower quality, generally poor service. and almost always full, crammed planes to maximize profit.

It's a zero sum game.  Either ticket prices double if you want better quality, service, and less packed planes, or ticket prices stay low and you get the opposite.  Most people just want to get somewhere for the cheapest possible price, so this is what we end up with.

I had a couple of bad experiences with Southwest about 15 years ago.  I have never flown with them again and never will.

I've advocated for an airline that provides higher class service and less packed planes for a slightly higher price, something like second class used to be on the old passenger ships, as right now almost all airlines would be considered 3rd class.

If I were rich and could afford the risk, I would start an airline like this.

I agree!  I'm just finishing up my second year at the warehouse and I love it here.  I seldom go out and am considering selling my car and using the Peachtree Retirement Community bus to take me to appointments.

There are lots of activities they have for us and I take advantage of all of them.  Especially the Friday afternoon socials with music so I get to dance (really shuffle) with old ladies.

Last week we celebrated the 102nd birthday for Hildred.  She still gets around with her walker.

That would be something like FlexJets, would it not?

Just throwing this out there...is the problem statement really the Airline Industry?  🙂

No, Flexjets is a luxury private jet airline.

I'm talking about an airline that uses larger passenger planes like the 737 or A320, but with fewer, much more comfortable seats and much better service.  Something between 1st class and economy class.

Tickets would cost about twice what the cattle car airlines charge.

Seems like I remember that years back an airline named Republic tried this. It eventually failed. As crazy as things are getting it may be more successful now.

Not so sure the problems is the airlines but rather the human factor in customers and sometimes employees. these stories have always been out there until the internet created wild airline story 'news' and forums that have to have any kind of stories to report. I saw a video of a couple doing a walk of shame from the lavatory while cell phones all out recording it. Haven't we all heard the mile high club stories forever, now they make news if it is recorded.

I think the simplest rule to follow is, "Don't be a jerk."

I think most, if not all, follow that rule very well here on avsim!

Just a mention, regarding the rules.... several of you have broken the rules, regarding staying on topic 😁

Oops, I just have too.

Seriously though, Mr. Charlie won't be happy unless you stick to airlines rather than debating the rules. we wouldnt want to raise his blood pressure or trigger his flatulance.

ive just been involved with our latest recruitment drive at my airline for cabin crew.  Do you all know how hard it is now to get a good quality youngster (21 to 30) to apply, and more importantly to stay.  They simply dont want the early starts, late nights for low money.  Its very challenging.   .

Why would you want to do 5 / 6 trips a month for 26K, when you can earn the same amount being an influencer, content creator, or stay at home on bennies.   I think they did a study recently in the UK or USA and the number one job choice for teenagers at school when they leave was to be an influencer.
