July 7, 2025Jul 7 Hm. Looks like these threads keep derailing into nothing. BATC still works, they are still working on it and it's traffic injector works quite well. Minimal FPS loss. I don't even bother with the premium voices because the basic voices are just good enough for me to not pay for. Not sure what some of you are griping about. July 7, 2025Jul 7 Stop getting on Vitold's case. He is not wrong. Women are rare in the air (and in simming as well I might add). When listening to what's going on on frequency that's not something I really pay attention to, but you just have to go on VATSIM to see how it really is. So BATC would be indeed more realistic if it paid attention to that metric. And this can be asked without any ill intention behind it. Like "Women stupid!" No one said that. He just asked for a more realistic representation of the real world on frequency. That's not something one should get their knickers in a twist over. I believe however that this is outside of their control. The system that allocates voices can't discern. It can't even discern between who gets a controller and who gets a pilot slot. You know what's rare, better yet, never happens? Single-pilot airline flying and yet everyone here does it. It's an extremely menial thing to get hung up on, all things considered. As simmers there's a lot of unrealistic things we're simply okay with because quite frankly, its not big enough a deal to get worked up over. There's a lot more important and realistic things BATC can be focusing on than ensuring 6% of voices heard are women.

This is the real issue to talk about... It did make it difficult to understand and use. SI traffic releases today, I'm curious if they'll have the same issue.

It's this type of bizarrely meaningless obsession that sometimes makes me wonder about my involvement in the simming community. Can you even begin to comprehend just how good we have it in the desktop flight sim world today, if THIS is the type of thing people are finding to complain about? "My make believe air traffic controller is talking to too many make believe female vs make believe male pilots"? 😂 In the decades that I've been hearing ATC comms with other aircraft while at work, it has never even occurred to me to wonder about the frequency of female vs male pilot voices. I just asked my wife (also an airline pilot) if she ever notices this; if she finds it notable when she hears three female pilots in a row, for instance. Now, I'm used to her giving me bemused looks when I mention the flight sim world, but this was outright laughter. Yeah, times are good, guys. 😉 Andrew Crowley
