What’s Happening With BATC?

Is there a web interface for it too like FSHUD? So you don't need to take up ANY sim real estate and tun from tablet instead?

Not officially (and will never come according to the devs)

But for AAO users:

https://flightsim.to/file/87091/batc-remote-control-for-tablet-browser-using-aao

But not with all features, like taxi map e. g.

    It's this type of bizarrely meaningless obsession that sometimes makes me wonder about my involvement in the simming community.  Can you even begin to comprehend just how good we have it in the d

New update on where things are headed from their Discord:

Highlights for me are that CPDLC is coming - and soon (target end of this month for Phase 1)!

Also really excited that we'll finally get 24hrs historic weather support for MSFS24 live weather.

Cancel requests is also much needed.

Great to see that work continues behind the scenes. Hopefully we'll also get some new traffic data soon that has a Summer / Winter split.

I also hope they will eventually end the 160 mile restricition on directs as soon as CPDLC is fully fleshed out in the future.

I also don't want ATC tell me that they can't give me a different approach or runway after they have already assigned me one.

And I also hope that the Complex Airport OPS will include correct hand off points in the future. Lets look at Munich as an example:

The taxi clearance you get from Apron and it will be valid until one of the entry points. At the entry point you are switched over to ground and they will give you the rest of the taxi instructions from the entry point. Same in reverse. After landing  ground atc will give you a clearance until the entry point and at the entry point Apron takes over and then gives you the clearance to your parking.

Or take  Frankfurt. If you look at the LIDO Charts the area that Apron controls is marked by a green dashed line. Everything outside is Tower's responsibility. So for example if you land on the 07L you Tower wil give you the intial taxi clearance until N11 and then switch you over to apron as you cross the highway.

These are the things that I would like to see implemented as well in the future.

Completely agree! Other things on my wishlist are shortcuts/vectors on lengthy STAR transitions (EDDF as an example...), non-published and traffic-dependent speed restrictions (i.e. speed 180 when flying an approach to maintain proper traffic flows) and proper separation with AI (I believe it's only separated once on initial load, then it sort of hopes for the best but I regularly end up close to other aircraft and have to self-separate...or AI is still flying close to each other causing go-arounds etc.).

The last point should also link to the shortcuts and holds for separation, for example at EGLL where during busy periods I would expect to be holding in one of the four stacks and then fly a vectored transition to the FAF but during lower traffic periods I would get a more direct route to the FAF without holding. Hopefully this will all come.

Not to my knowledge no. Though you can suggest it on their feedback page

I simply ask they don't send me backtracking rw 20 @ LPPT when I am supposed to use taxiway Sierra (S2, S3, S4) for that 😕

New update dropped. Main highlight for me is the support for 24-hour weather!

Quote

Minor Update 1.6.59.Experimental

Historic Weather (MSFS2024):
* METARs will now be downloaded to match the 24 hour weather history that is present in MSFS 2024 to better match BATC to the sim weather.

GSX:
* Departure and arrival handling are now split. Departure handling for automatic pushback selection and arrival handling for automatic gate selection
* Fix for not selecting gate when GSX not initialised.

Improvements:
* Ability to cancel direct to, altitude change, runway change, approach change while being asked to confirm the change. Button for cancel displayed and voice will understand "cancel" terminology. Note this does not allow you to retrospectively undo a change you have already accepted.
* Additional data added to try and ensure Cargo traffic aircraft never park at gates.
* Updated SQLite3 version and apply more exception handling to assist people receiving a unity crash in SQLite database calls
* WinWing users should now be able to map buttons and use their controllers with SimAppPro running. It can require that you hold the button down for a couple of seconds during mapping when SimAppPro is active as it spams the control bindings.
* Improve Portuguese voice mapping
* Airline callsigns now have pronunciations applied to improve vocalisation.
* AIRAC 2507 pronunciation data
* Latest airline callsign data

Bug Fixes:
* Prevent Message of the Day box displaying when no message is available
* Arabic Voice fixes to prevent hanging speech.
* Prevent internal waypoint names *_vector_* being spoken or displayed
* Runway changes will now be detected correctly when the player callsign was a subset of the runway string. e.g. callsign 4R - runway change 34R.
* Approach selection fixes
* Prevent waypoints that are part of a final approach ever being pruned
* Ensure an approach change from visual to ILS will vector correctly if required
* Increase traffic service timeout which may help people receiving traffic data download errors.
* Fix fatal caused by traffic flights with no initial fix due to short flight plan
* Fix fatal caused by malformed METAR string from weather service
* Fix bug where perfect 90 deg winds with flow based airport ops could activate both ends of runway
* Fix issue where the player can't change to a center frequency after take off because the departure airport uses the same frequency for clearance or another ground based frequency.
* Fix Daegu Center frequency can't be tuned
* Stop duplication of 'Clearance' in the frequency name if the scenery has the value incorrectly duplicated.
* Fix for nouns pronunciations not working
* Fixed some Ops has mis-entered frequency data meaning they were not saying the station - e.g. SOCAL was not saying SOCAL Approach etc.

Airport Ops:
* New: CYHU, EGSH, YWLM
* Updates: EGAA, KAMA, KATL, KBIS, KBOS, KCLE, KCOS, KDEN, KFAR, KGFK, KGRR, KICT, KLAS, KLAX, KLBB, KMEM, KMSP, KNOT, KPNS, KPVD, KSFO, KSTL, MROC, PANC, PHTO, SBGL, SKBO

This is baffling to me, every ATC program I ever used had this including RC4, PF3, and FSHUD, two of which had it for the past 15 years...

Just came into Mccall, Idaho KMYL with a 7knt tailwind.  Come on with this tailwind landing stuff I thought 5knts tailwind was the cutoff for tailwinds?

https://www.boldmethod.com/learn-to-fly/maneuvers/landing-with-a-tailwind-runway-excursion/

MYL is uncontrolled so the pilot would be shooting the approach.  Does batc assign one lol?  As for tailwinds in a light aircraft yeah 5 knots is a good rule of thumb.  In a jet most airlines use 10 knots.

My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL |
| Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

You are correct Sir.  Atc did assign /  coerce me into landing Rwy 36 at the time which would have granted the ole Citation X a 7knt tailwind. Kinda liked BATC when it was a little more precise on advising me which Rwy to expect and at least said it right 😉    Guess it's probably getting to me cause its the last thing I hear from ATC is the wrong Rwy. But you are right it is uncontrolled.

Interesting. Never had such issues but then again activesky with batc gives me better options for crosswind/tailwind landings overall.
