A note for the TFDi folk following this thread - the MSFS 2024 livery file names are too long. When I go to put the unzipped livery into the Community24 folder that runs off the C drive, (C\User\etc, about 5 or 6 layers down), then add the livery file name , I get a message saying the total string is too long, do I want to shorten the file name?

If I shorten the livery file name are there particular parts of it that must be in the abbreviated version for it to be recognized?

Thanks

Have you enabled windows long path option? It should fix this problem

$5 USD, the price of an actual cup of coffee at Starbucks in the US. Good on TFDI for a reasonable upgrade fee to MSFS 2024.

  • Hi all, we're happy to announce that the long-awaited Art, FS2024, and Extended Sim update for the MD-11 will release on 12JAN26 at 1600 GMT. We'll be here in Discord to chat and address anything

Well, $5 here is closer to the price of two coffees😝 After that, only three planes left before I can remove MSFS2020, but all of them are default.

Hello,

I am noticing an issue in msfs24 with the new tfdi MD11 - the fps goes from 100 fps in vc down to 50fps in outside views. Only the passenger variant exhibits such behavior.

Has anyone been experiencing such issues?

Thanks!

Does MD-11 support virtual reality headset? Should I need to buy only on the market place of msfs 2024, to make my career work?

Mikael - thanks for getting back. I have Win10 Home edition, which doesn't provide for gpedit.msc, so I looked at Regedit & tracked down through it to find that LongPathEnabled was already a  '1'.

But it also wants something else set for LPE to work.

So I will dig around & see what I can do.

I’d highly recommend Windows 11 is the thing that you do, since 10 is not supported anymore.

I will be looking at that.

In the meantime I found a work around. When you unzip the downloaded livery, the file name goes "tfdidesign-& so on.pack. If you click on that, the same file name appears. So I copied the 2nd iteration of the file name over to the C:\user\etc community24 folder & it took, it was not bounced out.

& I have just found the test livery in MSFS2024 & now I'm going to see if it flies

Well I managed to get the update and also installed extended sim simulation - Very much impressed so far, the textures look much more crisp and aircraft sounds have been improved bit too. There were some issues on 2024 but I think since then developers have patched it. I was literally about to retire my MD11 fleet last week and move onto B777F but I think I am now going to put even more hours in MD11 and visit practically every destination FedEx used to fly prior to their grounding of their MD11 Fleet.

Do we know where I can find routes flown by MD11 previously? Mostly interested in FedEx routes - Can't use FR24 or flight aware as these airplanes have been grounded.

You still can use FR24

Just search for FedEx then click on fleet and then MD11.

MD-11 fleets around the world are currently grounded.

You can still search for a reg and see previous flight history such as: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/n643fe

Initial flight with MSFS 2024 is going well.

I noticed 1 difference with respect to MSFS 2020 - on the Autopilot in FS20, when you hover the mouse pointer over, say, the Heading dial, you get a downward pointing arrow, or moving the pointer 'up' slightly, an upward pointing arrow. Left clicking on the former has the AP setting control the heading, left clicking on the latter, [upward arrow], has the FMS control the heading.

In FS2024 I am not getting the 'up/down' arrow choice when I hover the mouse pointer over the Heading dial so I am wondering if I should be, & thereby have a Setting incorrect somewhere?

Yes, it appears tfdi has removed contents. Maybe the content will come back updated 😉
