If you don't already use LS (Lossless Scaling) for it's frame generation, you should at least trial it out.

For less than the price of a pub lunch you could be flying @ a vsync'd smooth 60 fps in P3D.

The idea being to lock P3D's frame rate at a fps your P3D installation can consistently handle and then use LS's frame generation to bring the fps up to 60 fps (or more if you really want).

It's the fps snake oil that was always just out of reach and really does make for a quite huge improvement in P3D flying, much more than any GFX card upgrade I've ever had.

A few 4k system intensive pics of P3D 4.5 flying with LS @ 60 fps 4K with nearly every GFX setting maxed along with custom lighting and cloud shaders and textures.

I wish I could use it... unfortunately my 8GB graphics card just can't spare the VRAM once it is running (4K setup).

I can easily hold 30 FPS without lossless scaling in most situations.  If I set my P3D to hold very 20 FPS comfortably, I tend to end up with VRAM issues.  Maybe I should try it out again.

MSFS for some reason FPS just tank the minute I turn lossless scaling on, even it if it was locked/holding 15/20 FPS, they drop to 7 or so once I turn it on.  Tried using RTSS/internal frame limiter but no luck!  I figure it to be a VRAM issue...

Use it all the time. Running FSLABS A320 in p3d ultra settings and maxed lod at 4k /60fps would have been laughable 5 years ago. It's reality now. Oh aig traffic at 50 aircraft too! Active sky too. Even road and sea traffic at moderate level.

Whoo, expensive... I'm in a different country, 60 UK units of money is around $123.25 AUD, which would be a pretty top pub bistro lunch for two and with beers, starters & deserts.

I normally have the Roast of the Day which is $20.00 AUD, although at times partake of the Senior's 2 course Lunch for $17.00 AUD, not too filling - just right 🙂

It's the pub I bought my first ever beers at when I was a lad of 16 years working at the local railway station, shunting trains, working signals, track points and road gates.

I also had to sell tickets, assist passengers, manage station finances, parcels and mail deliveries, calculate wages & banking, keep the station clean and the brass polished and wash the signal box windows, also test and maintain the signal lighting and worked three alternating shifts - morning, afternoon and day (day was at a different station).

Hmm, now that I think of it I was probably underpaid and technically they were not suppose to employ 16 year olds, really it was pretty easy work once you got the hang of it.

Actually 15 Pounds for 2 beers is about the same here, two tap pints that is ~$32 AUD

Must be a bit of a difference in the cost of the meal itself ?

We have 10% GST (VAT equivalent), there's also on a excise tax rate based on the % of alcohol and usage (i.e. is it a delicious drinking brew or a strictly commercial use product). And this year the max beer rate is 61.57% and is increased each year, so the Gov gets the biggest slice of the pie 😒

Not that we should be drinking and flying a plane that is 😉, here simming is an advantage and you can test skills after a few pints 😄

Yeah, must be the 4k, I can use DSR for 4k, but I don't use it all the time because 4k just sucks GPU processing power like no tomorrow, although not so much the memory - I've also found PBR can be a big killer depending on its usage design.

GPU usage is typically what kills my frame rates and 4k makes it so easy to overload the GPU with resultant crash of frame rates, typically I run P3D in a 2k DSR mode as a better than 1080p option without the overhead of 4k.

Can you choose other modes ? even just for testing?

I would like to give this a try, I run at 1080p. Can you share the settings you use for this app?

Do you know if this works with Track IR 5? I have tried it but suffered all sorts of graphic issues with Track IR 5, even though the installation itself went fine. Have the updates/fixes mentioned sorted this out or is the problem just down to me doing something wrong. I would be very interested to hear of others experiences with Track IR 5 and if there is any help out there.

V6 has it also.

Check your Steam app update settings for LS, maybe LS is automatically updated for you.

I tried TrackIR 5 with this latest release of LS and saw no apparent LS related issues.

TrackIR and LS are both run as admin (as P3D is also run as admin), I have joystick buttons to pause and center TrackIR, all seemed to work just fine.

P3D is set to run @ unlimited fps with Riva Tuner managing P3D's actual frame rate to 20~30 depending on GPU load and LS is configured for adaptive with a target of 60 fps.

Not much more I can say unless you provide specifics of what you've setup.

You'll need to have a play around with settings to achieve what best suit's yourself.

To describe my config - I have a scripted P3D startup where RivaTuner is auto run along with Lossless Scaling.

RivaTuner manages the P3D frame rate (P3D is actually set as unlimited fps), where I typically target 20~30 fps in RivaTuner and have LS set to LSFG 3.1 Adaptive @ 60 fps, Scaling is off, Rendering Sync Mode is Default and Behavior Multi-display mode is on.

Capture API is set to DXGI as WGC now only works on the latest Win11 release, on Win10 you can select WGC but LS will run DXGI regardless.

I do recommend reading the manual & the context sensitive help.

And RivaTuner fps settings should be as high as P3D can support consistently, higher is better, I aim for 30 and drop it down should the GPU load get too high e.g. 90%+. The good thing about RivaTuner is you can drop the fps down a couple of notches while flying (to reduce the GPU load) and LS will still maintain it's target rate and I've found I can have most P3D GFX settings either max or pretty high provided they don't overload the GPU, e.g. Vegetation shadow casting is a big user of GPU power, at least on my 3080Ti and endless trees casting shadows will use tons of GPU power.
