REX Atmos Core : released

Featured Replies

I rejoined the SU4 beta.  The 'SU4 beta' test version of Atmos seems to work perfectly in it.  I wonder if it will have to change again at the release of the next MSFS beta update.

The current SU4 beta build of Atmos CORE is working smoothly so far with the MSFS 2024 SU4 beta, but note that because this is a beta environment future MSFS beta updates may introduce changes requiring adjustments on our end. Also note that once SU4 is officially released, we will ensure full compatibility.

Sincere thanks for this.  I just had one of the smoothest and most picturesque flights I have ever had in any flight sim.  And yes, working perfectly in this version of SU4.

It has transformed it for me.  It just looks more realistic, basically like real life video.

What presets do you recommend?  I am having trouble choosing one that fits my eye for realism.

I didn't have to enter any registration again.  It just installed.

One thing... I thought it might recognise SU3 and SU4 beta and adjust accordingly.  It doesn't.  So only install it is you want to fly in SU4 beta.  Otherwise, use the old version for SU3.

I made that mistake to. The Beta played havoc with SU3, Were the 'Old days' really simpler? I think so. 😂

I use the three ABennett presets. If I was picky I would say a little less haze, a bit more Rayleigh scattering, and a bit more blue in the sky, but they are a really good base to start - the aircraft look more realistic and the clouds look great. That default yellow tinge is gone.  To me it looks much more lifelike.

The ABennett presents have been modified recently, so if you want to try them again if you tried them before, you have to activate them from a new search again rather than your old favourites list.

I have tried to tweak them myself a little but always end up messing it up and going back to the base ABennett settings.  I need to learn how to use Atmos a bit better.

Of course, how this looks to you can also depend on your brand of monitor and your personal monitor settings, so no presets will look completely the same to satisfy everyone.

@timest  I’m using latest version specifically for su4 beta and I find that autoloading of the “Weather” custom settings at startup of Atmos Core does not work. The ‘recent’ section of the home page of the app may indicate that my preset has been loaded but this is not the case. You can see the correct settings load if you then go on to manually click on the preset. Where is the best place to post a bug report?

p.s. I only use the Weather custom settings so don’t know if this bug applies to auto loading of the other settings (Atmos and Environment).

I’ve tried to work on these presets but we all have to remember it’s always a compromise if we want a plug and play preset for all conditions.

Great to here some feedback on them.

Yes there are definitely bits that I could make better in certain scenarios, but it always seems to mess up something elsewhere at some other time of day/weather condition/altitude etc.

I will keep trying of course, and tweaking as I go, I’ve been a bit busy with work this last week or so so haven’t had as much time for sinning as usual.

There is also a reshade preset currently in development by the Noptic team that is designed to be paired with my presets, and so I always don’t want to make significant changes at the moment that will affect the development of this.

But rest assured I’ll keep my presets and the reshade constantly under development to try and make the sim as realistic looking as possible that we can all hopefully benefit from.

Finally figured it out, with a little help from my friends. AB realistic Atmospheric and Enviro. I see no reason to mess with it any more. I can now turn my attention to the next trauma inducing 'app'.

Look forward to that! 🤣

Maybe biased but I think you should definitely use weather as well!!

Sincere thanks for your work on them.  I struggle to do any better.

I look forward to trying the Noptic reshade preset you told me about at some stage.  I just need to install the Reshade files first and get it going.
