Just a quick thank you from me. Just got REX Atmos Core a few days ago and using your presets. It has looked great so far during the few daylight flights I have done. 

Obviously also thanks to REX for the app, really helps make MSFS look better IMO.

I'm very pleased with Active Sky. I'm a tad wary of programmes that do too much. Atmos Core does a good job graphically. I'm happy to let it do that.

 

Just using the AB pre-sets here and it's far more realistic and immersive. Well worth buying imo.

Sorry just for clarification I meant the weather preset within Atmos Core.

Trying to better understand how Atmos works...

I prefer to fly using live weather/METAR. Does Atmos accept information about live weather from other sources like MSFS or Active sky and then optimize the visualization of that weather in MSFS? Or is it best used for weather presets?

My weather preset for example is for MSFS live weather, I’m not sure if it changes active sky.

 

Personally I only use AS in Passive mode as I hate the weather around the aircraft being applied globally and seeing the abrupt transitions.

 

The weather preset I created just improves the look and lighting of the clouds in MSFS.  Yes they aren’t exactly in the same place or have exactly the same size, but it makes the skies look better, and it’s very very close in terms of ‘how much weather there is’ (if that makes sense) to default live weather. 
 

It’s not as if the clouds in MSFS live weather or active sky are in the exact same location as real life anyway.

 

I would give my 3 presets, Weather, Atmos, and Enviro, a go and see what you think.

 

AB MSFS, but search for them on the individual tabs, don’t take them from the Home Screen. I’m sure many here and elsewhere will vouch for the improvement in looks and realism they give to the sim.

When are you starting Atmos Core? I’ve found it best to wait until at least when the flight is fully loaded (i.e. ‘swooped in’) and at the final “click to fly” stage.

As @boez says above, I wait until the scenario has loaded, and then I start Atmos on auto-load with the presets, and it tends to load in and change the atmospherics as I am setting up the aircraft / starting it etc.  Takes about 10 seconds to load in and change the atmospherics after starting it.

I have found that starting it beforehand can lead to the odd glitch, although I am not 100% certain Atmos causes this, but I have never had a problem doing it the way above and it takes no additional time really. 

I have found that there are no problems in between different flights / scenarios once the two programs are fully loaded. 

I keep forgetting to close it again and my MSFS really doesn't like it if you start with Atmos already running. 

I wish it started and closed with MSFS like TDS does.

Dang! You took the words right out of my mouth! I started my sim and forgot that Atmos was still running from a previous session. What a mess!

Yes.  First time I did this, on the world map it liked like the Vogons had demolished earth to build the hyperspace bypass!

I submitted a ticket and asked to get the beta version available in Discord. Havent tried it though

See everyone talking about the weather preset as if it generates weather in which it doesn't. The whole program only enhances the rgb and looks of the sim. The weather preset gives u visuals on adding extra cloud layer which is less predictive of the current cloud conditions. Its only for looks. Either use to live weather or a weather program if u want weather generation. Actually I like Atmos alot! Great application. Worth the money for sure. I use Active Sky for weather generation.

Are you using the Atmos Core Beta? Sorry if that was asked before. If not, make sure you have that. Dont open the app until after you've completely loaded into the sim after "fly now"
