So what happens when the server or your Internet word not alloweds itself?

Blurry textures??

So ide assume downloading is the better option.

downloading doesn’t solve any problems relating bad servers or bad internet, because both sims are still heavily dependent on the internet.

Why would I download anything and clutter up my drives like I did in MSFS?

As long as I don't suffer slow streaming, like everybody did on release, I see zero reason to download a single aircraft or scenery.

What if there is a problem with the server that streams object assets (aircraft/airports etc)? I am assuming that the Bing terrain images are streamed from a different server, so could there not be a situation where having all of those object assets downloaded onto your local drives would result in "normal service", compared to the "pure streamers" being up the proverbial creek?

And then when the weather server isn’t acting right, or the ground terrain server is acting up? In the grand scheme of things what difference does it make? Oh great your objects loaded but the weather is wrong and your landing in a blob that should New York.

So is the way of GaaS games.

Only real difference you’re going to see is longer loading times.

You can only download planes, city and world updates to your HD.  That means that the world, textures, mesh, elevations and weather are still streamed and slow streaming of these can still cause blurry textures.  Unless you have a really slow internet, there seems little to begin from downloading to your hard drive.

I have been toying with the possibility of downloading the couple of planes and handcrafted airports I use frequently though, but MSFS does seem to load them in quickly enough most of the time and I can probably make better use of the disk space.

I have been trying to decide what if anything to download. My internet isn't fast by modern standards but 2024 plays reasonably well. The only issue I have is blobs in some scenery and melted buildings that I assume is PG not loading quickly enough. Also if I load a new aircraft sometimes the gauges are blurred again until they download.

I am thinking of downloading aircraft and leaving the scenery to stream.

The only reason I can think of to stream the aircraft rather than download them is if the downloaded files are different and slower to process than the streamed versions.
