FS 2024 SU4 1.6.19.0 released...

Featured Replies

I can't do this any longer. Beta testing.

If P3Dv4 wasn't so slow loading I would uninstall 2024.

Someone please let me know when the AI issues are resolved.

Fenix - as usual - works fine. Did a quick hop LOWI-EBBR in the A320. All perfect. Graphics are just great with real wheather. And that smoothness…

I find it amazing how the Fenix has always been there for us: since release it's nearly worked this entire time. I found ridiculous smoothness with autofps/dynamic settings, traffic etc. Very impressive

Not sure what is going? Ai issues? As in the traffic? Which programs are you using? We already know default AI for all simulators is lacking. I am using BATC with AIG, FStraffic and FSLTL and they seem to be working fine. Following most of the protocol albeit with a few issues.

Is it other issues? Nearly all of my addons work with SU4. AtmosCore and GSX don't work (as far as I know) but this is a beta and this is to be expected. Other than those two addons, everything else works: scenery, basically all of my planes and most of the apps. Smooth performance even in high traffic and PG areas.

I am using AIG TC in conjunction with FSHud, and PSXT (separately) with AIG, FSLTL, FST. These all work as designed.

I don't fly much at all as I love to watch operations at various airports. I detest the LOD issues that come with 2024: disappearing landing gear doors, landing gear and wheels/tires on AI traffic especially on the ground. Move around and poof the gear et al is gone. AI Aircraft turn into hovercraft.

MS/A show zero interest in repairing this as it still shows in the last version of the beta.

So, your frustration doesn't lie with the sim itself per se but instead watching flights in/out of airports with a lack of realism? I notice that some planes will be missing gear using my drone camera from a distance. Usually, I don't pay that close attention to drone camera/plane watching and am rather here to fly.

Well, I guess you do you do then. There's always youtube videos of your favorite airports filming planes all day if that's you're thing (which I love watching myself). In terms of the sim and this particular thread: it's current discussion is about the most recent beta update and the simulation itself...not plane watching. LOD issues vary, I will give you that. Especially at a distance. I notice this in other sims as well. For flying planes in large airports, I don't always notice it because I am too busy figuring out an old 4 engine jet while taxing. I did notice a plane missing landing gear on short final once. Realized that FSLTL had a recent update and that seemed to have solved the issue.

As far as the beta? It's been great. Hardly noticed glaring issues.

Had my first CTD and few stutters with this latest beta, didn't encounter any issues with previous beta, Ahh, I just hope, they pinpoint the newly created issues.

Come on. The missing landing gear problem is EASY to see from the cockpit. You do not need the drone camera to notice it.

How do you think they’ve been able to squeeze this new performance out of this game? Just gotta make peace with it.

Because there is nothing to repair on their end. It is the model developers who have to step up their game and include the appropriate LOD in their model for this not happening.

Buy FStraffic just for the models. This is largely fixed

According to their Q&A when they talked about it they did some significant changes resulting in a waay better multicore usage, basically taking the main process off from Core0 (main thread) only. That is how I understood it.

Come on. I simply don't see it all the time. Does it happens sometimes? Sure. I believe you. I prioritize FSLTL, then FStraffic and then AIG. Maybe that's why I don't see it? Besides, I am here to fly virtual planes and pretend I am a pilot not watching planes take off and land.

Besides, the beta update has been great. Very smooth.

It's broken in both sims, there is a fundamental LOD issue with 2020 AND 2024, it's pretty obvious, especially at large airports with a lot of objects.

Still great sims and absolutely love them but they also have fundamental LOD issues.  I would just say things can still be optimized... Nothing that makes the sim unusable but seeing square wheels or landing gear appear 20 ft above the ground and disappear as planes touch down is certainly an immersion impediment.

Do you by any chance if this improves it in 2020 as well.  Probably not I understand but I would absolutely purchase if it fixes it in 2020 as well.

I love my AIG and some payware models I leverage but would give it up in a heartbeat to see wheels LOL...

Ironically, in racing we call tires black gold because every set is about the same price as an ounce of gold and they are a bit like that in MSFS as well but for very different reasons 🙂
