October 26, 2025Oct 26 Moderator I was given a demonstration of BeyondATC by a friend yesterday. He was using MSFS2020. With its ability to include SIDs and STARs in its instructions it was very impressive. The voices too were a big improvement over those in Radar Contact v4 but that's probably down to changes in technology in 20 years. So it was very disappointing when I went on the BeyondATC website and found out it's not compatible with P3D. ProATC is. SayIntentions is. Pilot2ATC is. FSHud is. Given all ATC programs use SimConnect to get the aircraft position, heading, speed, altitude and type I fail to understand why BeyondATC is only suitable with MSFS2020 and 2024. If the competition can read P3D SimConnect data then surely this one can. I've written to the author and await his reply. Radar Contact remains very useable but there are now serious alternatives. I don't remember how much I paid all those years ago. $60 now is quite a bit in ZAR, thanks to the ridiculous exchange rate. Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. October 27, 2025Oct 27 I was going to say that it was because BATC started development during the MSFS era (unlike FSHud), but I didn't know Say Intentions was compatible with P3D. October 27, 2025Oct 27 How did you feel BATC, Ray? I moved from PF3 to FSHud, but sometimes I feel it misses a lot during vectoring (bor both departure and approach). Also, I don't like the way they handle AI pushback and jetway connection. If the competition can read P3D SimConnect data then surely this one can. There’s a lot more that developers have to consider when deciding to support a platform than just flipping a switch. In supporting a platform a developer is committing to full support, bug fixing, cross-testing all new features and changes in every platform for years. so aside from whatever development work might be needed to make it compatible for P3D, the developer would also be committing to testing every single bug fix and feature update in that platform as well. Good on them if they want to consider it but it’s certainly not a choice that seems financially sensible on the surface given their non-subscription based business model. and of course, if they decide to take the risk and find out it’s not worth it, it’s extremely difficult to then pull out without causing a backlash. October 27, 2025Oct 27 Author Moderator @Stavros, we’re dealing with data and only data. If there’s a bug in BATC in XPlane or MSFS2020 it will also be present in all the other sims. The only thing ATC programs deal with is data via SimConnect. If all the other alternatives offer it for P3D why would BATC be an exception? He doesn’t need to have P3D. Ray (Cheshire, England). The voices were impressive but the paid for ones were much better than default. We tried it on a flight from Manchester to Dublin. Cruise was 220 with a long circular STAR to 28L. That seemed to match r/w ops. I would need to try several different flights to get a better feel of it. Why are they getting involved with pushback and jetways? That’s nothing to do with ATC. They should stick to traffic control. Our 737 was not connected to a jetway and my mate was doing everything so I couldn’t assess things the same as if I was doing things myself. With BGL (or AIG TC) traffic, the aircract are injected by MSFS/P3D directly. The pushback and jetway docking animations are also controlled by the sim. FSHud injects traffic directly, and so the sim AI traffic injection is bypassed. The side effect is that jetways don't attach, and planes don't push back but turn 180º (instantaneously) and start taxiing. I understand BATC also injects their traffic. I understand BATC also injects their traffic. This might explain why it’s not been made for P3D. It’s getting into things it really shouldn’t. RC was much simpler. You controlled what traffic was loaded in the sim and RC read the Status of the aircraft to issue appropriate instructions. Ray (Cheshire, England). The fact that it injects and controls other traffic alongside your aircraft is one of the big selling points of the product, is it not? 7800X3D - RTX 5080 - 64GB DDR5 - Dan C4-SFX
