FS2024 SU4 Beta, trees are solid objects

Featured Replies

Not sure which beta version this was implemented but I noticed that trees are now solid objects.  Don't ask me how I know this. 🙂  I also found a video on youtube about it.

Huh. I was at KPDXv2 earlier this morning and they most certainly weren't on my screen....

Any tree mods or scenery mods nearby?

Haven't trees always been solid objects?

Don't forget that any switch can be toggled at will in a beta build.

Here's the video I found on it.  You can skip to 1:55.

One thing is certain. The trees look a lot better close up than they do in MSFS 2020.

Pilot Pete; nice man but he seems to constantly 'discover' things he didn't know were in the sim.

Apart from the complete stupidity of this video where he could have just drove into the trees early on rather than stringing us all out and doing a full circuit.

Hang on a minute here!  At about ten seconds, as he goes from outside the aircraft to inside, he has the SU4 slow cockpit redraw problem that I have been on about.  How come nobody else has mentioned it?

And then again at around 2:50 he has the slow cockpit redraw and even a slow aircraft redraw aircraft as he goes back outside.  If SU4 gets released like this there will be a lot of people complaining.

But the testers of SU4 on here don't see it?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Blink and you'll miss it! I wouldn't call that "slow" as it does load in very quickly but yeah perhaps not quick enough and it shouldn't be happening at all to be fair. Can't say I've seen that in SU4 Beta though and using VR it would smack me right in the face.

You are joking right?  Did you not see from the 2:50 plus when he goes in and out of the aircraft?  Even the aircraft redraw was slow.

It can get worse believe me.  In the YS-11 for me it was taking 4 or 5 seconds at times - dreadful.  Gone back to SU3 and no problems at all - instant redraw in and out.

There is just no need for it to happen.  Completely spoils videos.  One friend asked what was going on.  Not good for a cutting edge simulator.

I keep skipping in and out of the beta at each new release in hope that it will be fixed.  If not everyone is getting it I am afraid it might be a bugger to trace.

Yes I do see it but at 2:50 it is a split second, no longer than that. If it's worse for you then yes that's a bit of an issue, but as above I've not personally experienced that in SU4 Beta and I've flown a few different aircraft, all of them streamed.

OK.  I suppose everybody's perception / tolerance is different.  It is only a split second, but totally absent in SU3 is my main point.

Maybe they have optimised SU4 so much that it switches views quicker than the rendered objects can keep up with.

If not all people have it, I am still hoping it is something that can be traced and ironed out for the ones that do have it.  There has to be an answer.
