Not sure the labels make it through.. but I do see BC Ferries in the water off Vancouver Island, and I do not believe that Asobo would have created those.. These are Henrik's ships..

Do you use LNM? If so I meant the labels on that but my description was a bit wrong, in LNM left click a ship and it'll show you information about it (just like with aircraft). Screenshot that over a ship you "believe" is GAIST if you can, thanks

    I would really love to see GAIST working properly in MSFS 2024 in AI Offline mode. This was one of those issues that delayed my switch to the new simulator.

    I really hope that Hendrik can get GAIST working in MSFS 2024 at some point. Global Shipping 24 is OK, but it has a limited number of ship types, and seems to be restricted to specific areas. When I h

OK, here is the Gabriola ferry: Island Aurora.. I believe this is a GAIST ship.

The label in MSFS is different, as you can see from the screenshot.. Why, I do not know..

Just looked up these ferry names... Both the Island Aurora and Island Gwawis are in service and look alike. The Island Gwawis is actually the ferry that sails the Gabriola route.

And this is what I find in the GAIST folder:

[fltsim.0]

title=AI_Island_Aurora

model=Aurora

texture=

ui_manufacturer=Henrik Nielsen

ui_type=BC Ferry

Ah ok the title is interesting in that folder (I've not looked there), suggests they are "working" but in the English Channel I had Zero ships just small default sailing boats compared to Seafront Vessels which are everywhere.

Either way it's definitely not working anywhere near as good as it did in 2020, even by the description on the flightsim.to page referencing issues with 2024 I'd say it's simply screwed all over.

A shame Henrik has gone MIA (hope he's ok), could do with an update on what is going on with what was the best shipping mod.

If only Asobo didn't mess with the ships and release a half baked feature in the first place, but hey ho they're useless.

Useless is a bit strong of a term... as you can see, I do get the BC Ferries showing where I live.. and that adds a lot to the overall feel of the area. BTW, can you see the screenshots? I have heard that Imgur does not work well in the UK.. If need be, I can provide download links.

Well they're useless in many departments but that's merely my opinion on what is an incomplete shipping feature since release, but yes I can see those pictures now. That kinda suggests the Asobo AI boats are using GAIST models, however again I see absolutely nothing in the English Channel whereas with GAIST in 2020 they were everywhere.

Thanks for your help anyway, I'll stick with seafront and park GAIST until a hopeful update or Asobo change/fix but I'm not relying on the latter.

Just to complete my investigation.. I turned off GAIST in the Community folder, and still get a Gabriola ferry, with the correct name, Island Gwawis, but the visual model is an Asobo ferry that does not look like the real thing.. So for me, GAIST is well worth enabling.. especially since all my local ferry routes appear to be populated with good looking models.. 🙂
