I just use live ship traffic, and then I see plenty of the GAIST models.

when I tried it I either had tankers and tall ships piled up on top of each other in marinas where they shouldn't be and at weird angles across harbour walls or just nothingness.

I would really love to see GAIST working properly in MSFS 2024 in AI Offline mode. This was one of those issues that delayed my switch to the new simulator.

I really hope that Hendrik can get GAIST working in MSFS 2024 at some point. Global Shipping 24 is OK, but it has a limited number of ship types, and seems to be restricted to specific areas. When I h

Just be sure to have the live traffic option set to on.

Then you will see loads of traffic. Even on rivers.

I would want GAIST to work in AI Offline mode, so that is a big problem.

Nothing works for me. Traffic set to offline and ships set to ultra and nothing, not a single one. I've also tried online and get none. GAIST 7.1 is active in 2024 community folder and shows active in content.xml so I have no idea why it's not working. I've disabled all the Asobo ships hoping to only see GAIST but no luck getting any ships to spawn.

Okay, got it to work: For some reason I have a "Community2024" folder in addition to the regular "Community" folder in 2024. I put a link to GAIST in the Community2024 folder and now see ships with MSFS2024 set to AI offline and ships set to Ultra. Don't see them on LittleNavMap map, but at least it's a start.

Now I have to figure out why I have a Community2024 folder and why all my other addons except GAIST in the "Community" folder are recognized by MSFS2024.

You should have a Community folder and a Community2024 folder. That is the standard installation format for the latest version of MSFS 2024. Technically, MSFS 2024 native products should be installed in the Community2024 folder, but I am not sure if it actually makes a difference.

GAIST models show up with live ship traffic, so the sim is recognizing the folder, but I guess it's just not loading the traffic BGL files for offline mode for some reason.

They added the 2024 folder so you could share the non-2024 folder with 2020 if you want without having duplicate files.

BGL traffic post SU4 doesn't work anymore in MSFS 2024.

Where did you see ships? I moved my GAIST folder to the 2024 folder, flying around the port of LA not seeing any ships.

Edit: Not seeing any in Vancouver or New York either

Are you sure live traffic didn't accidentally reenable?

Dave, curious where you found this information.

One of my friends who is also a dev used bgl's for his ai traffic pretty much exclusively since MSFS 2020 and 2024 came out. All of it was working very well until SU4 which with GAIST no longer working would seem to confirm.

I have to agree, it seems a logical conclusion.

Not using bgl in 2024 seems a bit of a radical change, one might have thought it worth a mention in the SU4 release notes, alas not to be.

I believe I was situated at KEWR. There were several container ships docked for loading/unloading. I've also tried WSSS airport on 2R and there were a ton of ships sitting in a line just off the coast in Singapore Bay. The one thing I have NOT seen is any ships moving.

Some sceneries include their own static ships. That could be what you’re seeing, and would explain why you don’t see them on LNM

Just took off from Changi with Seafront Simulations global installed.

Wow. Just wow.

Any updates regarding GIAST to work with AI Offline? Reading about the BGL stuff make me feel it'll never work again?
