December 27, 2025Dec 27 I have noticed flying in visual moisture and temperature below 0C post SU4 no ice accumulates on leading edges. I tried BS Baron and A2A Comanche (2024 edition). Most I get is frost on windshield in Baron. Most bizarre is OAT is -20C and I'm getting rain splashes on windshield. Has anyone noticed lack of icing? P.S. December 27, 2025Dec 27 I was thinking the same thing today flying today in southern Ontario through a pretty heavy snowstorm and freezing rain in the Aerostar, no icing at all. Windows would ice up but little to no icing on the wings or tail. That said, I did notice some wing icing on the Baron while on the prairies yesterday, but also very little. Icing was way overdone in early times so maybe they have turned it down? MSFS 2024. December 27, 2025Dec 27 Happened the same to me the other day on LSZH and the FSLabs... it was snowing and I left the aircraft sit there for an hour or so... no ice/snow accumulation at all Enrique Vaamonde
December 27, 2025Dec 27 Commercial Member Similar results here. FWIW most users don’t understand it think it’s a bug (like several other realistic aviation phenomena). It should be available in realism options and disabled by default (perhaps LOW like turbulence) but there at realistic levels for those who want it. December 27, 2025Dec 27 Sure we can debate the details of icing appearance and effect, but while the raindrops splash on the windshield at -20 degrees. C as the OP wrote, and they fly sideways even in coordinated flight, I think there are deeper issues in MSFS understanding of physics than how ice is painted onto the wings, unfortunately, after 5 years.
December 27, 2025Dec 27 Just another one of the issues with SU4. I am sick of it to be honest. I hope SU5 comes soon and fixes things up. So much for the optimisation. December 28, 2025Dec 28 This evening, here north of Toronto, we are in the midst of a snow-freezing-rain storm and I have been flying the baron around at 2,000 feet for quite a while with no anti-ice turned, not even pitot heating, and no signs of ice, either visual or in the performance of the aircraft. So something, seems to be amiss post SU4. MSFS 2024. December 29, 2025Dec 29 Honestly, I can't remember the last time I saw icing on a plane. Probably back to the early MSFS 2020 days. Only thing I ever get is a little frost on the windscreen which melts away quickly. I remember when 2020 launched, taking off in a default SR22 and having the whole plane ice up quickly. I took off in the IndiaFoxEcho F35 when we were having an actual ice storm. I got a message about engine icing, but didn't ever see anything. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

December 29, 2025Dec 29 The sim connect is reading icing at least, as LittleNavMap is receiving info about it. Saw it last night at LFPG, but yeah the visuals seem to be broken. If you click on your aircraft on LNM it will show you a bunch of info, including how much icing is on your aircraft. 40 minutes ago, Aglos77 said: Imagine that the PS5 guys crash their plane due to ice while flying to show him his brother-in-law's house in the sim. and how is that any different from PC gamers doing the same thing? December 29, 2025Dec 29 I'm seeing ice build up on the A320Neo's nose. Not seeing any on the wings or engines yet It's now on the tail and stabilizers, but still nothing on the engines or wings Edited December 29, 2025Dec 29 by Tuskin38
December 29, 2025Dec 29 Author I wonder if icing simulation was changed and each developer need to update their aircraft to properly manifest it? I also remember back in MSFS2020 in one of the updates Asobo accidentally disable icing. So no matter how is set on or off it didn't work. I wonder if its is similar case? Can we enforce it in some config file by changing flag? Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). If so then I wonder if it is a visual issue that developers need to adjust for, as sd_flyer is suggesting. Also, interesting that simconnect is detecting icing on the plane. I flew in freezing rain yesterday for a good period of time with no anit-icing and the aircraft felt no different in its handling, but maybe I did not build up enough ice to affect it. I will need to launch LNM and watch how much ice is actually there. MSFS 2024.
