How to deal with constant ATC switching?

Featured Replies

How do i deal with a constant switch between 2 ATC centers?
Flight: EBBR ---> EGLL.
Once EBBR Departure clears me to Brussels Center problems start.
I contact Brussels Center only to be told to contact Amsterdam Center.
I contact Amsterdam Center only to be told to contact Brussels Center again.
I contact Brussels Center again only to be told to contact Amsterdam Center again.
I contact Amsterdam Center again only to be told to contact Brussels Center again.

etc etc etc... until it makes the switch to London Center and then goes back and forth a bit between Amsterdam Center and London Center until London Center asks me to contact Approach.

I thought FSHud would deal with this constant switching between the centers but no... it doesn't. It does just the same thing.

How do i deal with that?

Pick another route that doesn't fly along a sector boundary.

I often just acknowledge the switch but don;t announce yourself on the new freq, if you're on a long cruise just announce yourself later and the app almost always works it out (BATC here)

I was thinking the same as Bob, above.  You're probably flying right along the boundary line between the two zones (popping in and out of them constantly).

But when I used to use default ATC I used to do what Max suggested above.  Acknowledge the instruction to change frequences, change to the new frequency but don't contact them, until you're well clear of the problem area.

Or pick BATC or FSHUD, maybe Say Intentions too...

Default ATC has various quirks...

How about just letting the copilot do all the work?  He saves tonnes of work for me.

That's an understatement jcomm.  It's not even as good as it was in 2020 and it was not great in that.

When you use the copilot he'll do just that.

Didn't I mention somewhere that I used FSHud and that it acts just the same as default ATC? Yes I did.

Oh, sorry ... how bad of me... what a shame!!!!

Then try BATC or Say Intentions... as, you should know, the workarounds suggested in this thread while great, wouldn't be required IRL..

Won't change anything. The Sector Boundaries and handovers are the same.

The problem in this particular area is the absence of the correct upper control center. In reality above FL 245 it is all Maastricht Radar, whether you cross over between Belgium and the Netherlands and back, or not.

Exactly, which means, as I wrote above, it isn't really a problem IRL... I don't know how it works with SI because I don't own it.

I might  test it in Xp12 should the OP make the actual route available...

The issue isn't there is SayIntentions.   It does zones and boundaries really well, because it's 'looking' at real ATC patterns to decide how to handle you 👍

Thank you Bill !

I have to give SI a fair try one of these days... plus, it should work with Xp12 too !!!

Nice to know that SI works, but of course it will cost you, and not a little, so the question is just "how" irritating this really is to you 🙂
