Poor performance tied to injected traffic in MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

Hello,

Lately I've observed degraded MSFS 2024 performance only when any form of injected traffic is created in the sim.  I've tried both frame gen "on" and "off" and other settings to no avail.  I have BATC,  SI and FSHud and all three perform great with no injected traffic enabled.  Once enabled - the sim is just not smooth any longer.   Even when I turn on the lowest amount of possible injected traffic do I see the change in performance.   I have FSLTL models only installed.

Anyone else see this or have any ideas to try and alleviate?

Thanks,

Tony

Yes, traffic kills performance.

Same for me, both in MSFS 2020 and 2024.

This is in part ATC heresy, but there is a way to have ample AI traffic, use BATC, yet have much less impact on sim performance.   Give it a whirl sometime it's simple to do.  The obvious downside is that while your flight is being *controlled* by BATC's controller, it's not in sync with AI traffic.  So it's simply this:  turn BATC's traffic injection off.  Instead, use FSLTL's.  I have FSLTL setup with at least as much or more traffic than BATC would do set at all 5's on its sliders, and yet performance impact is about 50% of what it is when you turn of traffic injection/management to BATC.  Another plus is that you will find FSLTL's injection/management much smoother in animation quality than BATC can be.  In general on smaller terminals involved I will use BATC's injection and enjoy what that offers despite sometimes stuttery animation.  In big demanding terminals I use FSLTL's which is always smooth.  Strangely also, sometimes I find BATC's taxi traffic can be worse in terms of running into me than FSLTL's, which often appears to sense my plane and stop while I go around or turn etc.  Again, you still get BATC's controller telling you what to do, but you won't ever hear it tell you to line up and wait, for example.

Does FSLTL use real life schedule for injection by chance? Or just random flights all over?

Check my free MSFS sceneries : https://flightsim.to/profile/vbazillio/trending and my hardware configuration.

I found that upping to DDR5 and  to 6000 MHz helped this significantly

It provides a much larger bandwidth thus avoiding most bottlenecks caused by introducing "more"

i use batc with fsltl aircraft models, and the thing that i have found the best to alleviate traffic hitting fps is downscaling the fsltl models to 1024, i think default they are 4k.

Another feedback: FSLTL/AIG or the integrated MSFS AI injector, all have an important impact on my MSFS Performance while Say.Injections seems to be way less impactfull.

Does say intentions injector support AIG models? I’ve only just took a trial with say intentions and haven’t looked at the traffic injection yet

I doubt that the AI traffic engine in MSFS2024 itself degrade the performane. I have tested AI traffic using FSLTL modles and the Spotty app to see what is going on when the sky is full of AI traffic and I hardly saw any degrade.  But I have a powerful PC setup.                    With Spotty you can easily see all AI traffic and test it all around the MSFS world.

BATC has a traffic slider. Run it at 1 or 2. Less traffic, but better performance.

Yes, it uses any models active in your MSFS.

Does that mean, even the default ASOBO ones?

I used to do that but I completely forgot the process I followed in the past 😕

Could you link here the sites/ applications / instructions for downscaling?

Thx !
