January 23Jan 23 The DC-8 is hands-down one of my all-time favorite jets — sleek lines, double bubble and that that classic quad-engine figure, America's second ever jetliner and 707 rival. Not forgetting its nose scoops that give it that face! The Super 73 series especially (stretched Super 63 with CFM56 upgrades) was/is such an ambitious beast, basically doubling capacity. I've spent way too many sleepless nights wishing for a proper study-level version in MSFS 2024. Options are super limited right now: mostly the HJG FSX port on Flightsim.to (which is fun but basic), or older P3D versions. Thanks to a generous friend, I've been lucky enough to fly a fully modeled one in P3D v5.4 with realistic fuel system management — the extra realism from handling tanks, fill valves and crossfeed is pure joy. It's frustrating that so many aircraft have multiple devs across X-Plane and MSFS, but the DC-8 itself has zero native love in MSFS. No dev announcements, no hints on the horizon. Putting this out there in hope that a talented dev (or team) sees the passion and finally brings the DC-8 to MSFS in all its smoky, four-engine splendor. Just sharing the love for this forgotten queen. Fingers crossed for 2026 or beyond... anyone else holding out hope? Edited January 23Jan 23 by Joshua757
January 23Jan 23 Probably would have to be a passion project... I doubt any dev would make much money on that plane. Compared to an A320 or 737 I mean. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
January 23Jan 23 Yes -- I'd love to see it. What DC-8 is that in your linked video? The Aerosoft / Cependa DC-8 for P3Dv4 didn't have an FMC, it had a CIVA INS instead, so it doesn't look like that one. The JustFlight DC-8's as far as I know, didn't have an FMC. Is that an Ernie Alston modded one? Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
January 23Jan 23 If Asobo continues with its "legends" models, like the b707, there's no reason why the DC8 should not be considered. Hopefully, a more reliable developers should be assigned to the task.

January 23Jan 23 I'd love one (or several variants)! Our only hope is probably Just Flight, they seem to be able to make a commercial go of building high detail retro aircraft. I own it and actually also fly it once in a while, purely out of love for this classic airplane. However, frankly I would not wish that simulation upon any serious enthusiast of the 707...🙂... Agree, we definitely need a more committed and reliable developer, plus, I believe that Asobo 707 has not been updated to fix the deficiencies of the initial release...
January 23Jan 23 When it comes to vintage jet airliners, I'd like to see all of them, including the DC-8. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

Is that an Ernie Alston modded one? Yes, the Aerosoft one (50 series only) had a (dual) CIVA INS System (see image below), a good INS simulation, as I recall... The Just Flight one (50-70 series) had a Honeywell HT9100-style FMS/CDU (see image below). Just Flight also had the (10-40 series) supplement to cover the entire range of DC-8 variants. I was regularly flying both the JF and Aerosoft ones... were good enough for the time...It will be so nice to see better textured versions of this classic, hopefully, in MSFS someday... Always dreaming here...🙂...but more likely, as Ryan says, we will see (yet) another B737 or A320 variant first in the SIM... Aerosoft: Just Flight:

Ricardo: Some of us here do like rust buckets in MSFS....🙂...What fun will it be if we were to only fly the shiny new (carbon fiber composite) modern airliners and business jets...🙂... not that anything is wrong with flying them in the SIM... I was flying the ultra-modern A350 today myself...
