No it's not - but you are right that it should be...eg, the magenta cross hairs should appear when it's on and disappear when it's off - but it still shows the cross hairs when I now know that the FD is actually OFF.  Similarly, 'FMA' or similar should appear on the main screen when the FD is engaged...but it doesn't.  

It's clearly a bug but FSS have said explicitly that they do not want any bug reporting at all from the general 'Experimental' users because their own designated testers will pick up such things.   It lost me a lot of time in the last couple of days but now I know I need to check externally (ie my Stream Deck) then I can live with it.  I will be irritated, of course, if they do a final release with that bug still there. :wink:

I agree.  I am programming the MCDU now in 2D and then switching to VR once everything is in.  It's almost unusable to try to program it while in VR with the clickspot misalignments.  It wouldn't be so bad if they were just all equally offset - but they are all over the place

Yesterday I bought these planes (all of them, and I also took the opportunity to “buy” the cargo plane), but I'm not able to register on FSS Discord to access all the discussions. I asked for help (a ticket) and sent a screenshot of the purchase, but so far nothing... I'll read what's been posted so far, but is it really that complicated?

PS: just reed Turbomax problems with the activation process. Same...

yes, that complicated, you got it. you'll have to download that zip file from their discord, unzip and run it which runs a batch file which creates a zipped log file which you have to email them which then they may accept and let you register on their discord. couldn't be any simpler. not. 🤣

This is Embraer logic (E-Jet, esp. MSFS implementations), not Boeing/Airbus muscle memory.

Core idea (before the checklist)
    •    TO mode is the ONLY vertical mode you use for takeoff
    •    You do NOT arm VNAV on the ground (you can’t, really)
    •    FLCH is the “acceleration / climb management” mode, not a “takeoff mode”
    •    If you touch FLCH too early, the aircraft will level or even pitch down to chase speed → “descending into certain death”

Perfect Embraer Takeoff & Climb – Button Order That Actually Works

1️⃣ At the gate (setup)
    •    TRS (Thrust Rating Selector): set to TO
    •    FMS: takeoff speeds set (V1 / VR / V2)
    •    Initial altitude: set in MCP (per ATC SID clearance)
    •    LNAV: optional to arm on the ground (this is fine)
    •    VNAV: do not try to arm it
    •    A/T: not armed yet

👉 At this stage, no vertical mode is armed

2️⃣ On the runway (before rolling)
    •    Arm A/T
    •    Verify:
    •    FD ON
    •    Pitch guidance visible

3️⃣ Takeoff roll
    •    Advance thrust
    •    Aircraft enters TO mode automatically

📌 What TO mode does
    •    Commands V2 + ~20
    •    Controls pitch directly
    •    This is not FLCH, not VNAV, not VS

➡️ Hands off the vertical modes

4️⃣ Liftoff → initial climb
    •    Rotate normally
    •    Follow FD
    •    Aircraft remains in TO mode

🧠 This is where many people panic and press FLCH — don’t

5️⃣ 400 ft AGL
    •    LNAV becomes active (if armed)
    •    Still TO mode vertically

6️⃣ Acceleration altitude (usually ~1000 ft AGL)

⚠️ This is the critical moment

Now you do exactly this:

➡️ Press FLCH

📌 What happens:
    •    TO mode is cancelled
    •    Aircraft transitions to second-segment climb
    •    It allows acceleration toward VFS / clean speed
    •    Pitch may shallow — this is normal

This is why pressing FLCH too early is deadly:
    •    FLCH prioritizes speed over climb
    •    If you’re slow and low, it will pitch down aggressively

7️⃣ Passing acceleration / clean-up
    •    Retract flaps on schedule
    •    Aircraft continues climbing in FLCH
    •    Thrust remains climb thrust

8️⃣ Above ~3000 ft AGL

Now you have options:

Option A (most realistic / safest)
    •    Stay in FLCH
    •    Let it manage climb via speed

Option B
    •    Switch to VNAV / PTH (if available & stable)

Option C
    •    Use V/S if you want absolute control

Why people were “descending into death”?

Because they:
    •    Pressed FLCH before acceleration altitude
    •    Or tried to “arm VNAV” on the ground
    •    Or assumed FLCH = climb mode (it isn’t — it’s a speed mode)

FLCH will sacrifice pitch to get the selected speed.
Near the ground, that’s lethal if mistimed.

TL;DR – One-line memory hook

Take off in TO → don’t touch vertical modes → FLCH only at accel altitude'

 

Addendum:  Discord user 'Matt' is a realworld E-Jets pilot and part of the more than 50-member E-Jets pilot team that advises FSS on development.

It looks like some 'experts' are making a complete fool of themselves again on YouTube.

Can someone confirm these jets work in 2024.  On the purchase page it says MSFS 2020.

They are working in 2024. If you're using Contril, just download the 2024 version.

Hi I just bought the 175 I want to fly from Vancouver to Ketchikan. Can you simply import the MSFS flight plan into the FMC to do simple point A to point B flights or do you have to manually program the FMC?

You can import via the FMC.

I purchase the E170 and 190 series.  But I cannot get my simbrief username to take. I tried both my username and pilot ID.  Never had this problem before. 

Also, when I click on GPU from EFB nothing happens.   Also...can't the MCDU to work either.  When click buttons, nothing happens when it powers on...doesn't power on each time. 

Same problem both models.  Appreciate if anyone knows solution to problems.  Thanks.

I had to bind another key to retract the gear, oddly.
