Amazed after all these years and Bobby and Co. still can’t get the LNAV correct. I’m sure their cadre of beta testers who’ve been with them so long that they are so far divorced from criticism of the product have sung its praises behind the scenes. So glad this company is in my rear view mirror for MS2024. My 737 itch will be scratched once iFly gets Max 8 out.

I'm enjoying the heck out of it for what it is. It's a very decent plane. I don't see that much difference form what Ifly is offering.

I can only speak for iFly, but I can say that most of the beta team flies 737s in reality.  I've had in-the-weeds systems discussions on their beta discord that rival the depth of discussions I've had

I worked with a few developers, and they had a few previous or qualified pilots in equipment development. Of course, they had beta testers who had never flown any airplane but were very eager to learn; it was their hubby, as it was for us. But others were just for the ride to get free software. What troubles me the most is that they claim to have real pilots, and you can see all these discrepancies that are not fixed, bugs that do not exist in a real airplane

I can only speak for iFly, but I can say that most of the beta team flies 737s in reality.  I've had in-the-weeds systems discussions on their beta discord that rival the depth of discussions I've had with check airman at work.  There are a few folks that have engineering-level knowledge of this aircraft (though I don't know if they're really engineers); I've actually learned a lot by being a part of their beta.  My contributions are more focused on issues relating to complex RNP procedures, and I think I'm the only one who flies the HGS at work, but everyone seems to have their "specialty".  It's a really good team.

Also, SP1 beta: not my place to make any announcements, but the status changed just today from "soon (tm)" to, well, "imminent" I guess we can say.  Good news 👍.  Who knows how long the process will take though.

Guess this is a bit of a hijack, sorry.  I almost deleted it after reading it and realizing that, but then it kind of seems relevant too, given the preceding discussion, so I guess I'll leave it.

Other than the slight "wobble" before a turn, what exactly is wrong with the LNAV logic in the PMDG 737? It generally works fine for me, but then I never get it up into the stratosphere, or have to worry about bad weather

And it shows in the product quality. On top of that, customs relations are A+, from what I observed.

My specialty is inhaling virtual paint fumes, which leads to the hallucinations that I somehow know how to fly a commercial airliner. 🤔

I just point out what I think looks/feels unusual and wait for the real pilots to tell either me that's how its supposed to work or yes...that's an actual bug and report it. Then I go back to my paint booth to add or touch-up another livery as the hallucinations have faded by then and I realize that I'm on the beta team for painting, not for validating systems or flight fidelity. 🤪

Christopher,
Besides what you noticed regarding that unrealistic "wobble" before the turn, you can notice certain bank oscillations during the turn. Turn anticipation needs to be corrected, especially in wind conditions, as it cuts in/out of the magenta line during turns, resulting in inconsistent intercepts that cause it to go left/right of course before it settles down. And as you mentioned, "bad wx" is a big problem for them. Their aerodynamics are sloppy compared to those of other developers, resulting in unrealistic situations. It's not that it can't be fixed; they chose not to spend the time on it. When examining their past compared to their current state, it's hard not to feel disappointed with their "progress."

Interesting, I've never noticed this in PMDG 7xx aircraft, nor in the iFly 7xx ... how bad does the wind have to be to trigger this?  I know MSFS 2024 supports winds aloft and jet streams.  I have ran into odd issues when using HiFi ActiveSky with PMDG aircraft so stopped using it with PMDG aircraft.

Ah, the iFly and PMDG 777 don't experience the problem I'm mentioning. Only the PMDG 737. It can be observed as fishtailing or Dutch rolls during cruise or approach when winds shift or exceed 15-20 KTS. More so after this new update. Also, if you simulate an engine failure with 15 KTS direct x-wind (forget 30), you are in for a big surprise. The iFly 737 or the PMDG 777 engines out are OK up to the demonstrated limits. As you mentioned, MSFS 2024 wx, besides supporting FD and Jetstream, has big issues with manual ground winds implementation. For example, if you set 330/30 up to 6,000 ft, during t.o roll, if you monitor wind direction and velocity on the ND, you will notice wind 330/15. It is always 1/2 of what you manually programmed, up to about 800-1,000 ft, when it starts to show correctly. If it finds a station with surface-wind data downloaded from their server, it will show the correct data on the ground during t.o. climb, descend, and land. But if the user entered it manually, as I mentioned, it's a different story.

Yes, I've noticed this ... it's why I purchased HiFi ActiveSky for MSFS 2024, but that seems to trigger some other issues with PMDG 737 series.  I've used the following website to identify locations where I can go test out winds in MSFS 2024:

https://badbadweather.com/wind

Some locations seemed accurate, other locations not so much.

Very relevant and thanks for that "imminent" news. My itch will get that scratch soon me thinks.

Really bud???

Complaining about 20 bucks?

You probably spend more money at  McDonald's.

At least this you get to enjoy it multiple times .

I purchased the 737-900 package for MSFS 2024 last night at the 60% discount price, so I look forward to enjoying flights in the 900ER again when I recover from my operation!

Nice.
Enjoy the 739 when you can.
Best for fast recuperation…! Those things (small or big) are part of life, as we get up there…I mean…more experienced…🙂

[I’m (will be) away from my Xbox for a few days. I forgot to check the Marketplace for the PMDG 739 on Friday, when I flew the A350.
Could anyone please tell me if it has already made it to the Marketplace? I recall reading that RSR was actively working on it. Thanks.]
