Peter Sellers

Sellers upstaged everybody in that movie, even George C. Scott !

German, Frenchman, here he plays an Indian..

(Made this a separate thread)  Peter Sellers was really one of a kind, the way he could play characters of a different nationalites.  So many great movies.  The one  movie of his that inevitably rises to the top as my favorite is "After the Fox", which initially didn't have a great box office but eventually became a cult hit.  He plays a criminal who passes himself off as a movie director to smuggle a shipment of gold.  The on the spot/by the seat of his pants improvisation of his character as a director is awesome.  Sellers was doing a parody of Federico Fellini.

Another great performance in that movie was by Victor Mature.  He had already retired from acting, but agreed to come back and parody himself.  His heyday was in the 1940s & 1950s,  and his character is in denial about his advancing age (check out his dyed hair; later in the movie, his female co-star runs her fingers through his hair and when she removes them, they're covered in hair dye.

I see After the Fox is free for anyone who has Amazon Prime., like we do.

ALRIGHT!!! Thanks for the heads up, we have Amazon Prime!  You made my day! 🤣 Time to celebrate:

”Papa come back.  You sick!”

”The movie!  I want to be in the movie!” 🎥

LOL, LOL, all the villagers think he is Fellini :))

When I woke up this morning, a long dormant memory came back to me.  When I was in high school, a friend and I went to see the movie “Fellini Satyricon”.  It was a Saturday night and the theater was packed.  It was interesting but kind of strange.  When it ended, everyone started to leave, and because it was crowded, it was a slow pace. The strange part was that there was complete silence.  Usually there are conversations among people talking about whatever was going on in the movie, but everyone was slowly shuffling out in complete silence.  Then, all of a sudden, a single voice in the crowd yelled, “Jeeze, what the hell was that all about?”  Instantly the spell was broken as everyone started laughing!😆 😂😁

Too many years ago while stationed at 29 Palms, I went to the nightly on base movie.  Tickets cost 10 cents.  The feature was "Hannibal" with Victor Mature (I called him "manure!").  The movie was SOOOO bad, I walked out and thought about asking for a refund.  Seeing these clips reminds me of his acting skills.

The Mouse That Roared. Kind Hearts & Coronets. Sellers has been doing it for years.

I still watch Doctor Strangelove or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb. Sellers played three different characters and each quite different from the others. Talented man. Then there was George C Scott’s funny roll and Slim Pickens roll as a red neck B52 pilot. For those of us who have spent time in the military or even government service you can almost relate to some you have come across who could be as crazy as some of those characters if left unchecked.

Oh yeah, there's no doubt about that.  That's why I like his performance in After the Fox.  He was a good sport about doing a great job of making fun of himself.

Here he is in the 1940 movie "One Milllion B.C."  It was his second movie and first starring role (as caveman without beard holding spear)  💩🦨😷 P-U 😆

Peter Sellers wasn't in Kind Hearts and Coronets.

I’ve never heard of the film in the original post. For me Peter Sellers hit the jackpot playing the bumbling Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther films. His interaction with Burt Kwouk (Kato) was brilliant.

The fern is ringing! 🤣 50 years since this classic. Still fondly remembered by this Brit.

Peter Sellers pretty much hit it out of the park in everything he was in.  He was brilliant in "The Pink Panther" movies.  A master of British humor and comedy.
