I cannot use Avsim on my mobile anymore because of 'Bad Requests' due to poor advertising placement. As a result I don't come here anywhere near as much as I used to.

On a side note: there is a channel advertisement or something constantly running whenever I post here on AVSIM.  Oddly it starts and stops playing every time I press the spacebar when entering text into a post?  I think it’s advertising someone’s channel (AVIATECH Channel), but the videos are terrible, you can clearly see the person flying seems to be using a keyboard to fly and the landings are horrifically bad?  Anyway, just thought I’d point that out … some advertisements are making a real mess of this website.  I get the need to advertise, but when ads actually interfere with simple type of text that might warrant some investigation.

Use Brave browser.

Don't presume that I've never heard of Brave browser. As I said, no thank you.

Use Brave browser.

I use Firefox, with the standard ad blocker, and I've never seen an ad on AVSIM in my life.

Highly recommended.

I do think Brave is excellent though.  Blocks ALL ads and is fiercely against private individuals' data being abused by big tech.  There's just a couple of things that don't work so well for me with Brave, hence I use it when I can but Firefox remains my main browser.

Sorry for the O/T .... has the -700 been released yet? 😄

Ah, well then - if you’re in the know, then find something that solves your problem. Solutions abound!

Yep, I use a few different browsers depending on the activity. 🤙

Brave almost exclusively on the smart phone because there’s no need for additional plugins and such.

On the desktops, Edge for 365 use (and where related Azure sso is in play), Chrome for Google & google sso, and Firefox for standalone sites.

All of the above in conjunction with various ad blockers, etc.

Why so many? A little bit of using the native access tool for a given service. But overwhelmingly I’ve found that in today’s cloud-heavy work environment, multiple different browsers manage aggregate memory and performance much better than a single browser with potentially dozens of tabs open simultaneously.

Issue with Ad blockers is they can be detected and then entire website content blocked.  Or the bigger issues are trying to attach an image and the Ad blockers prevents the popup from opening where one enters the image URL.  Or, an important agreement message that pops up that is required to agree to in order to proceed.  Or a file download popup is blocked that would allow a download to be triggered.  Or, … long list of valid popups that get blocked by Ad blockers leaving one thinking there is something wrong with a website, when in fact it’s the Ad blocker.

Anyway, back to the 700 … is there a list somewhere that shows the differences between the 600, 700, 800, 900 other than just performance specifications/weights/fuel?

I mean, the entire IRL point of the series is that they’re as exactly alike, including options, as possible…? I.e., to preserve a common type rating, etc.

If you mean the addons themselves, IMHO the variant details are laid out pretty well on PMDG’s product pages…?

Both are things an AI could tabulate for you in just a few seconds 🤙

in re ad blockers, yes you’re correct, of course.

But I very rarely run into hard blocks or site malfunctions.

And these days, an ad blocker that messes a site up is suspicious to me. Either the site is poorly coded, or it could be a phish.

For those few times I really want to get at news content, 2 clicks is all it takes to temporarily allow the ads.

Given the increase in stability, performance, and real cybersecurity, that’s an infrequent inconvenience I’m happy to endure. 🤙

I shouldn't have to install another browser just for one site when every other MSFS forum and news site on the planet works just fine, so the solution is to just not view Avsim on my mobile. I have absolutely no problem with seeing adverts on a website but if they are so poorly implemented that they break it's functionality and I can't see the adverts or the website then there is no point going there.

Cool … not exactly sure why I have the 600, 700, 800, 900 but I could say the same for FSLabs Airbus series … I guess is the collection desire to have a “full set” … kinda weird, don’t know why I do that but hey, helps PMDG/FSLabs development efforts.

I know what you mean.  In FSX / P3D I used to do things like buy the whole Just Flight DC-8 series, from DC-8-10 to DC-8-73 just to have the whole set and all those lovely liveries, but then I think I only ever flew two variants.   Great times though.

I've no doubt these are factually correct points, but all I can say is that in over 10 years of using Firefox with it's standard ad blocker, I've never once come across any of these issues.

Even the risk of one of them happening at some point, would seem worth it, for the 1,000,000s of ads that I've never had to suffer!  I can't imagine AVSIM the way those of you who have to suffer the ads describe it!    Until this came up a few weeks ago, I didn't even know that AVSIM had ads! 😄

I am very surprised that a man of your technical nous and intellectual prominence doesn't use an ad blocker!    I can't get my head around how anyone can not use one... they're as necessary as jelly in a PBJ!

I politely demand that you give it a try for 1 week!   I can't believe you'll ever turn it off!

I don't think I've ever spammed 'F5' (refresh) on a website before, but as it's post 20:00z, I've been doing just that 😄   I couldn't care less about the -700 tbh, but I want that high detail update! 😎
