April 17Apr 17 can tell you now BATC handles traffic better than SayIntentions. Yes Sayintentions might have more flexibility but its control of AI traffic is woeful. BATC does it much better.

Was it experimental option for VFR or IFR? There are no downwind approach in IFR for runway 27 as far as I remember. All feeder routes take us inland via STARs . You either get modified straight in in coming from the East side. OR flying via north (heading from west ocean side( with u turn kind of entry to runway 27. I wonder where BATC polluted it from. There DP with left hand departure but hardly can call it downwind LOL KSAN use runway 27 at all time I can't remember ever landing from opposite site either as pilot of pax (I fly from there a lot). I imagine Santa Ana wind condition when things can change but they are few times a year only. There is also so called "bay tour" for VFR traffic! Im pretty sure BATC doesn't know about it. You talk to directly KSAN tower directly they let pass over midfield then drop to 500 AGL and fly around San Diego bay tour. In my days I loved with fly IFR I would touch wheel at Brown field and file again. If you do this way they always channel your flight plan via published victors airway via Mission Bay VOR. They will take you to V23 via San Diego Bay, KSAN - basically same Bay Tour but sweep is more to see San Diego. I used to use this technique to all my relative to get San Diego sightseeing flights LOL Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). April 17Apr 17 I'm back to my stance on it's not ready yet. I've done about 6 flights in a few days. Smaller GA mixed with jets - some low/mid level, combined with some flights in class A with jets. It's inconsistently good is how I'd describe it. FCM WLSTN7 GRB KGRB. FL 350 in the Phenom 300 (hehe). I ask for lower, it gives me a new freq. I check in and nothing. No descent. I ask for a radio check... they hear me fine. I'm 70 miles out at FL350... a bit high lol. When it works, it does a decent job. When it doesn't...it's annoying. I'd say about 4/6 flights were pretty good with some odd quirks but this one with the keeping me high and saying nothing to me was annoying. And the previous low level GA where they gave me about 12 vectors to final lol... and then blew me through the localizer. April 17Apr 17 My last two flights were very good, but I did fly with a STAR and just followed ATC instructions. When I ask for an approach change, that's when things don't go so well. I still love the ap and want to see it succeed. I'm now considering the Experimental Version because I want to use MSFS 2024 flight plans. I'm tired of using Simbrief. Can someone give me some feedback on how BATC is working with the default flight planner when conducting IFR flights? Thanks. MSFS

April 17Apr 17 Ive been happy to live with the various issues with BATC since I bought it. I know its a work in progress. I have to say however, that since the last update it has been markedly worse. In my last flight alone: told to push back and face the wrong direction. had a standoff with another aircraft taxiing towards me. told I was number 2 for takeoff when I was the only aircraft waiting to depart. I never recieved takeoff clerance. Took off and was told to stop immediately. (I didnt.). had an aircraft cleared for takeoff at my arrival airport, on the same runway, when I was already on short final with landing clearance. I know its early acess and I know the development process may well cause bugs to be introduced but the performance of the last release, compared to the improvements listed in the release notes, has been pretty woeful for me. (This is EA release not Experimental). Edited April 17Apr 17 by Vel

April 17Apr 17 1 hour ago, Vel said: told to push back and face the wrong direction. Strange! BATC doesn't tell me direction of pushback? In real life ramps/alleyways are uncontrolled and ATC has to way to tell you which way to back up. ATC will usually pick up when airplane taxi to active movement zone like taxiways. In my experience BATC only requires you to ask permission to push back and engine start or just engine start. April 17Apr 17 @sd_flyer - It may be due to GSX integration? As part of the pushback call you get the direction to face. It has always been fine until recently. Edited April 17Apr 17 by Vel

As you know, it's pretty easy to vector with just 3 turns unless there's a lot of sequencing. But since it's a computer application I say 4 or 5 is just fine. One of my flights I'm not even lying it was 11 vectors, like in 10 degree increments. April 18Apr 18 Just came back to BATC after several months. Clearance included radar vectors on departure, but none were given. H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
April 18Apr 18 I tried experimental but switched back to "early access". Experimental I can only talk to center : file FP, ask for IFR release, land. Very strange no other frequency other than hang over to next center is given. At least with early access I have right "chain of command " clearance/ground, tower/departure and etc Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F).
