May 11May 11 I decided to finally give Chaseplane a try. I only bought it because it was a requirement for FSRealistic +. I watched several videos. It seemed easy, but it's turning out to be "not user friendly." Users swear by this add-on as a "must have." Right now, I'm a little nervous about this purchase. Can someone help? So far I've been able to assign move left and right, up & down, and in and out with keyboard. I also assigned left & right + up & down with my hat switch. Can the panning be slowed down? I also created some cams and assigned keyboard commands. I want to be able to copy a cam and save it. Such as PIC cam copy to SEC. Is there a way to copy a camera? This was so easy to do with the default camera system. I want to set up outside cams, but can't find a way to do it. I found spot view and chase. I want to set up outside cams such as above and bellow wings. Lastly, can I import a camera set from the community? I tried, but I see nothing there for my airplane. Thanks. MSFS
May 11May 11 Well, I think it’s not easy to reduce complexity for something as complex as the MSFS camera system. Have you ever tried to configure a controller for the Drone Cam, using MSFS default config dialogues ?? Well.. a nightmare from my perspective. To copy a camera, press ‚ALT‘ on the keyboard, this will bring up ‚copy‘-icons for the cameras. Click the copy symbol of the ‚source‘ camera to create a new one. The ‚Pen‘ Button of the active camera will allow you to adjust the settings of any camera. There is an excellent tutorial in the app which will guide you through all those settings. The import feature works for sure.. but of course, someone needs to create and provide a camera for that aircraft first. Joerg AlvermannWin10 Pro 64Bit - i9-9900KS - GTX3060 12GB - 5760x1200
May 11May 11 Author Like most things regarding msfs, it takes some time, but I figured it out. I did achieve the one goal I had for today. I set up my airplane and tested Fsrealistic +. It's everything I felt it could be. Excellent addon. It just takes some learning without manuals. The one thing that is a challenge is setting up the proper speed while panning. MSFS

May 11May 11 Author Does anyone know how to set up the pilot cam so that I can use my hat switch to pan just like I did with default cams? This program is a nightmare to set up. I'm already regreting this purchase. FSRealistic + should have been designed to work with default cams. Even //42 support can't help me get this camera working as it should. MSFS
May 11May 11 Author I give up on Chaseplane. It's to high-tech for me to understand. I'll take it as a good meal gone bad. I knew EZDOK, and this ain't no EZDOK. Lesson learned. Mods please close this thread. MSFS

There's nothing like the default "look left/right". I just create a custom view for each and assign them to the hat you want. You can type in the numbers into the view too. So just take your main view, then go -90 and +90 (I always forget which one goes which way). Then adjust to get the perfect view. It is a few extra steps, but you can adjust it to exactly where you want it. There's a bit of a learning curve but it is well worth it. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF

Mods please close this thread. You know, a year ago I was saying much the same thing when I bought it ... I was also trying to make some short videos with this and Flight Recorder and failed miserably.. It frustrated me and I left it alone for a while ... when I brought it back out things seemed to fall into place a bit better and I use it EVERY Flight with FSRealistic + .. I havent done any real fancy stuff , all pretty basic camera views etc but with a 12 button, at the thumb, mouse it is so easy to use. Chaseplane , TrackIR and this 12 button mouse compliment each other... I also use one of the mouse buttons for Freezing TIR and one for Centering. I don't really need to PAN having TIR though. If I do need to Pan then I hold down the right Mouse button and drag the view. Glad I revisited it.... now it's GREAT. PS- I was an EZDok user too, back in the day... PPS - Just tried and my POV hat switch still pans in any camera view that I switch to.... Edited May 12May 12 by aerostar

When I try to slow the panning speed down, it feels like I'm flying in space. I just realized that Chaseplane has many of the same effects as FSRealistic +. How does users disable the physics to the camera? There needs to be a manual. It would make it so much easier. MSFS
May 12May 12 I use axis to pan, not buttons. Because the sensitivity sliders in msfs options can make them pan slow or fast, according to where you set the sliders. This device has six axis. I use to move seat left, right, up, down, forward, back (that takes 3 levers because it's 3 axis). I also assigned pan left, right, up, down, zoom in and zoom out. (that's the other 3 axis). XYZxyz move seat forward and back does not affect the scenery you see through the windows, only affects what you see in the cockpit. But Zoom in and zoom out does affect both inside the cockpit and scenery seen out the windows. There are also 12 buttons (each button remains centered (off) but can be flipped up or down, so 12 button commands. CH Products Quad. They have been making this for about 20 years now. May 12May 12 I have never used the default camera system as I only moved to MSFS2024 once Chaseplane was supported having used it with 2020 and P3D - so I was familiar with the chaseplane way of doing things. I think it was an advantage having never used the default camera as I didn't have to unlearn anything. If you have a lot of aircraft it can be a lengthy process setting up all your camera views in Chaseplane but but the process is very straight forward. Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
May 12May 12 just type "chaseplane msfs 2024" into youtube there are a few tutorials on there. I've watched a bunch of videos and I finally found one that explains everything that I wanted to know about chaseplane: I do need to thank Chris from Chaseplane. He did try to help me, but nothing beats a good video and persistence. Now, it's possible that I could conquer this beast. MSFS
May 12May 12 My super short guide to what I do with Chaseplane when using a new plane: -Edit the pilot view to be exactly where I want it, assign it to "up" on my hat -Create new views for pilot left and pilot right, assign that to hat buttons -Create another new view for back. I use 135 degrees back for pattern work, but adjust as necessary. Assign that to my hat (back) Once I got the hang of it, it is super quick. You can type numbers into the view to move them too. I do wish the left/right and back would be default views, but I can set them up in no time. The trick is being consistent for every plane. Then I get up in the air and set my autopilot for cruise. I then check out the external views and add any I might want. I like setting up stuff as if there's a gopro camera on the plane. A lot of the default external views work well. There's a way to edit how sensitive the view panning is too. Some are far too sensitive. As for overall key binds, I have a toggle internal external view (just like the default camera). You can assign buttons for next/previous if you like. I mostly just pop up the interface to go through the external views. My hat already controls the internal views as always. The big challenge is avoiding key bind conflicts. If any assignment acts strangely, check for a duplicate assignment. When you assign something in Chaseplane, go into the default controls and search for that input and make sure there's nothing that conflicts. The program does a pretty good job clearing these out, but a few might still be there. There's a lot more depth to it, but this is all I really need to do. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
