iFly 737 Max version 1.1.0.0 is out now

Featured Replies

Last weekend, I decided to fly SEA-KEF with the 737 Max 8. In real life, this flight takes around 7 hours and 30 minutes, but in MSFS, I decided to do it with 2x time acceleration.

On the first attempt, I had CTD approaching the coast of Iceland a few miles from TOD. Total flight time was around 4 hours and 30 minutes. On the second attempt, I had CTD more or less in the same place as the first, with a similar flight time.

On the third attempt, I used 4x time acceleration and managed to complete the flight in 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Seeing other comments, It seems that the iFly 737 Max is not capable of handling long flights in real-time. The iFly plugin must have some kind of memory leak that builds up during the flight, which may also explain the performance degradation in cruise that some are experiencing in addition to CTD's.

This comment doesn't really make sense. SP1 was never going to be native 2024. That was communicated very clearly on the roadmap after initial release. SP1 first, native 2024 next, Max9 and furthe

  • @MariuszKr why are you quoting your own post and replying to it?

  • I’ll bite.. I grew up on Flightsim, since I was 8 in fact. I’m a captain on the 737 in US. Playing Flightsim is a part of life. Do I have desires to fly the same plane on Flightsim? No, not really. F

Not sure what is considered a long flight but I did LAS-DCA as my first flight with the update a bit over 4hrs and had no issues. Definitely strange if it's the plugin not working correctly for some people. I have mine auto starting

The time it takes until a CTD varies depending on the circumstances and PC specs. On the iFly Discord, someone reported a CTD after 2.5 hours of flight. Here, someone reported a CTD after 6 hours of flight.

I believe that on average, between 4 and 5 hours of flight, you enter the danger zone for CTD with the iFly 737 MAX.

I'm aware that the iFly comes with the 178 seat option. I'm just referring to the SWA liveries from Jviation. They were done only for the 189 seat layout.

Again, does it really make that much difference?

According to Southwest's site, they use the 175 seat layout on the 737 MAX. Wonder why Jviation made the SWA liveries for the 189 seat layout.

The only all-economy layout available is the 189-seat configuration. Selecting the 178-seat layout will result in a two-class cabin. Unfortunately, that's just how the model is set up, so there's not much I can do about it.

That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.

Love your liveries!

Just did OMDB-LYBE, 5 hour flight, no crashes.

A memory leak has been identified in the plug-in, per the discord announcement. It only affects 2024, and does not affect all users of 2024, so it's strange, but being worked on.

How many liveries are included in the base product ?

One is preinstalled the rest you have to download through the manager. I haven't counted them, could be 3 Dozen.

I'm in the middle of a 6-hour flight from Argentina SABE to SKIP. So far so good. 3 1/2 hours to go. My only complaint is being that's it nighttime in South America, the Max beacon and strobe lights are way too bright and look like giant cones reflecting in all directions. Wish this can get fixed in 2024 release.

Good enough, I was just looking for an approximate number....thanks.

Is it possible this memory leak is also causing the EFB to be heavy on cpu use. I have a measly 6700K but the EFB app uses 6%-12% cpu cycles - it's killing performance for me. I had pretty good performance with the previous Max ver., I would say on-par with the PMDG 737's.

Right now, I'm almost at the end of a 6-hour flight. My vram usage is about 89%, CPU 36% and ram 49%. AIG 70%. Getting ready for landing, got to go.
